Cardano Summit 2022 — IAMX Recap
It’s a wrap! The event of the year, exceeding expectations, Cardano Summit 2022 has come to a close. The IAMX team are happy to have been sponsors, doing their part to make the Summit a reality. If you weren’t able to make it to Lausanne, we’ve got you covered. As if you’re a fly on the wall, this is your play-by-play, so let’s go!
On Friday, the IAMX team met to enjoy some beverages and good company in advance of the Summit.
Feeling the alignment and team cohesion that comes after reconnecting over some good local beer, the team set off for the warm-up party co-hosted by IAMX and NMKR. The party was packed, with over 50 guests, including: Cardano influencers, like the Bullish Dumpling; Cardano projects, like Mandala Metaverse, Wingriders, and Smartplaces; NFT artists, like Jet from Turtle Connection; and many investors. By all accounts the party was an absolute blast, and left everyone feeling excited for the next few days of the Summit.
On Saturday, IAMX co-founders, Tim Heidfeld and Tim Brückmann were invited to lunch in Geneva with the Cardano Foundation, while Lise Wessel, Head of Marketing at IAMX, Thomas Tallis, Head of Strategy, and Nicholas Collinson, Head of Partnership & Innovation, attended the Cardano RealFi Consortium. The RealFi meet up was organised by Peter Van Garderen of Landano and attended by Emurgo, IOG, Empowa, NEWM, Charlie3, IOTA, and many more.
After a daytime recovery, the IAMX team reconvened on Saturday afternoon for the Welcome Evening, hosted by the Cardano Foundation at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. According to David Taylor, Global Marketing Director for the Cardano Foundation, this venue was specifically chosen to highlight the correlation between Cardano and the Olympics. In David’s words:
“Whether a team or an individual, we’re all striving to do our best and get better. This Summit symbolises a passing of the baton in many respects — encouraging evolution of the Cardano Ecosystem.”
On Sunday, Day 1 of the Summit, everyone got to work showcasing their efforts on “Building Cardano”. IAMX CEO and Co-founder, Tim Heidfeld, hosted a workshop on Decentralised Identity & Financial Institutions, which was one of the most attended workshops of the Summit.
That evening, everyone gathered for the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, where many big names and key players in the Cardano ecosystem were recognised for their efforts. IAMX CTO, Dennis Mittmann was nominated for an award for Cardano Improvement Proposals — Standards. It was a great party and a time for celebration!
On Monday, Day 2 of the Summit, IAMX co-founder Tim Heidfeld joined others for a panel on “Digital Identity Solutions: KYC & NFTs”, which was attended by many, including Charles Hoskinson, who sat in the first row. This panel was one of many content elements that were recorded and available for viewing on the Cardano Summit website.
Later that day, Tim, winner of the Cardano Speaker Ballot, delivered his talk on IAMX Identity Solutions, which is also available for viewing on the Cardano Summit website. Ten minutes isn’t a lot of time, but we think Tim did a great job explaining IAMX technology, what it means for the Cardano ecosystem, and the world.
Glen Jordan from Empowa spoke after Tim Heidfeld, delivering some powerful stories from the families they have already helped in Mozambique.
Throughout the Summit, IAMX had both a physical and a virtual stand, where participants could meet some of the IAMX team for real-time knowledge exchange.
Over 50,000 people signed up for the Virtual Summit. Thanks to Andrè Eilertsen, Head of Partnerships & Community at IAMX, and the team of Ambassadors (Nick, Travis, Rob, Germán and Kal), the virtual stand was manned for the full 48 hours of the Summit.
Cardano Foundation CEO Fredrik Gregaard gave some well-deserved praise to the Cardano Foundation Global Marketing Director, David Taylor, for an exceptional delivery of Cardano Summit 2022. IAMX would also like to give special praise to Elis Moormaa, Jeremy Firster & Pierre Kaklamanos for all their amazing support and assistance.
In all, there were over 40 sessions and 80 speakers for the two days of the Summit, with tens of thousands participating from around the world, both in-person and virtually. IAMX is honored to have taken part in the event, having made many meaningful connections, and we’ve left feeling invigorated and galvanised to continue building with the Cardano community. IAMX is proud to have been a sponsor of this event.
Finally, a successful Summit was celebrated with a party at D!Club, a local night club in Lausanne.
