Twitter Synopsis — Begin Wallet / B58Finance — January 11, 2023
Topic of the space is IAMX partnership with B58 Finance and Begin Wallet.
Ambassador Feature: Kal of Clover Earth Node (@CloverNodes)
Catching up with Kal after a couple months. Kal expresses excitement for the DJED launch as well as the launch of the IAMX marketplace. Kal has a background in ecommerce, running his own eccomerce store for the last 12 years. In addition, he will be running a World Mobile Earth Node and is currently building his Cardano Stakepool with the help of fellow IAMX ambassador Rob (@RobCardano).
Given Kal’s ecommerce background, he is excited to see web3 wallets integrated with ecommerce stores, like amazon, shopify, etc. Particularly when these wallets are DID-enabled via IAMX.
Special Guest: Francis Luz (@BeginWallet — @B58Finance)
Francis is a co-founder of B58 Finance & Begin Wallet.
B58 Finance is the organization behind Begin Wallet, which has been in development since mid-2022. His background is in the financial sector for over 20 years as a software developer and cybersecurity engineer. Approached building the wallet after having begun development on defi solutions. The goal of the wallet is specifically to attract non-crypto users into the space. It should be easy enough to use that Francis’ mother should be able to use it effectively. Everything Begin Wallet centers on this user experience for non-crypto target user-base.
Similarly, every defi product B58 Finance is developing is specifically designed for that non-crypto target user base as well.
Begin Wallet features include:
· Simplified onboarding process
· Easy-to-share “receive card,” which can send the wallet address QR code
· Stakes to the Begin Wallet stakepool, but this will be reworked to include all pools
· Developing “Quick Stake” function
· Decentralized Application (dApp) connector and browser works well on mobile app
· Partial open source code soon
· Ledger Integration and Viewable NFTs in development
One of Begin Wallet’s primary focuses is on identity in web3, emphasizing end-user services. They are working with IAMX to be an “identity wallet,” so all DIDs are easily stored and utilized.
Francis foresees the adoption of regulatory clarity, and the need for efforts to onboard “web2.”
DID integration experience design is incomplete at this time, however the experience will be similar to using a modern dApp browser connection.
While B58 Finance is a defi-focused endeavor, they are not planning to develop their own dApp anytime soon. They plan to include a Decentralized Exchange (dex) aggregator in-wallet. Their focus leans more towards the integration of DIDs and identity features.
Begin Wallet will set itself apart from other wallets, will be unique among these competitors primarily through its User Experience (UX). Other forthcoming features are also in development, and will be available in the coming months.
Begin Wallet is open to expanding to other base chains, but is focused solely on Cardano at this time. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Algorand will be top of the list for other Layer 1 (L1) integration when that time comes.
B58 Finance / Begin Wallet does have a token in development at this time. Timelines are not set at this time, but the main idea behind the token will be relative to the in-wallet swap and discounted / waived swap fees. Once tokenomics and function are fully developed, distribution will be via Initial Coin Offering (ICO) with a potential NFT tie-in.
