Enabling the blockchain ecosystem in India has been one of our foremost objectives at IBC Media. T-block is another initiative that we’re working on to bring startups in India an opportunity to scale up. We’ve been getting in touch with several startups and we received a lot of queries about how T-block is going to help them. So, we decided to create an FAQ blog post to help answer some questions. Let’s dive into it!

What is T-block?

T-block is an accelerator that is dedicated to helping startups that are leveraging blockchain technology use cases to solve real word problems. It is a four-month-long acceleration programme that will involve a bootcamp, expert mentorship for all aspects of starting-up and building blockchain solutions, government accreditation, incubation support, and membership in the Blockchain District of Telangana.

T-block is a collaborative initiative by the State Government of Telangana, Tech Mahindra and IBC Media.

Does my startup have to have a blockchain component?

Yes, your startup has be leveraging blockchain technology to build the solution you are focusing on. However, if your startup is not leveraging blockchain technology at the moment, but you do plan to incorporate it into your technology stack, you are welcome to apply for the accelerator as well.

What is the eligibility criteria?

In order to apply for T-block, you startup needs to:

  • ‎leverage a blockchain use case
  • ‎incorporated in India
  • ‎an early-stage startup
  • ‎a purpose-driven team
  • ‎an innovative idea

What are the perks of registering for T-block?

  • Expert Mentorship

T-block has the best minds in the startup space and the blockchain technology circles joining in to help the participating startups. Once the shortlisting process is done, the startups that make it into the bootcamp phase will go through a series of workshops conducted by industry experts. The topics covered will involve product development, budgeting, customer and value proposition design, blockchain technology support, and raising investments.

  • ‎Go-to-market Opportunities

Post the bootcamp phase and second round of shortlisting, T-block will also help the startups take their products to market. Tech Mahindra is invested in identifying opportunities that will provide startups with a wider spectrum of partnership and business opportunities.

  • ‎Blockchain District Membership

The final shortlist of startups will receive membership in the Blockchain District of Telangana. This is a physical ecosystem that is equipped to support companies and startups that are taking up challenges that blockchain technology can solve. Startups will receive incubation support, lab facilities, mentorship and advisory, and more.

What does “Government Accreditation” entail for my startup?

With Government Accreditation, your startup will get direct access to partnership opportunities with governments and other public sector institutions and will be given first preference to provide solutions for public sector use cases and problem statements.

What is the registration process for the accelerator?

Visit the T-block website and fill up the Preliminary Form with your basic contact details and you will receive an email with the link to the second form which will require comprehensive data about you’re startup, your team, your product, and how you will incorporate blockchain technology.

Will startups have to physically attend the bootcamp given the lockdown?

Not necessarily. In light of the restrictions against travelling and assembly, we are exploring virtual options to conduct the bootcamp. In any case, the startups participating will be updated with these developments.
