As a team dedicated to empowering innovation, at IBC Media, we’re working on an exciting collaboration with the Government of Telangana and Tech Mahindra. We’re setting up T-block — an accelerator programme to help startups that are leveraging or have the potential to incorporate blockchain technology to scale-up.

India’s Budding Startup Ecosystem

India has a thriving startup ecosystem. In fact, it has one of the third largest ecosystems in the world. According to the NASSCOM Zinnov Indian Tech Start-up Ecosystem Report, 2019, there have been over 9,000 startups that have been incepted in India since 2014, with over 1,300+ startups that joined the gang in 2019. And to put this into perspective, most of these startups are doing well to scale-up and hit their revenue margins; India’s startup ecosystem garnered an approximate of $4.4 billion in funding between January and September in 2019.

Given the magnitude and scale, the Indian Startup Ecosystem is going on a promising trajectory, and we’re seeing an evolving investor landscape as well. Presently, there are over 390+ active institutional investors and there has been a 1.5x increase in private equity investors as well since 2018.

The T-block Accelerator is here at the right time to help startups from this massive cohort who are leveraging blockchain technology to build great products that can change the world. Presently, the deep-tech startup sector in India is growing at a CAGR of 40% since 2014, and presently 18% of the startups are leveraging deep-tech to create solutions at the B2C and the enterprise level.

Enter T-block Accelerator

In August 2018, the State Government of Telangana, represented by Hon. Minister, Shri KT Ramarao, announced the launch of the Telangana Blockchain District (TBD) at the first edition of the International Blockchain Congress. The Blockchain District was conceptualised to empower and enable blockchain startups with incubation and acceleration facilities. T-block is the flagship initiative of the TBD that will begin to materialise their vision.

On 3 February 2020, we launched the T-block accelerator at the Tech Mahindra Infocity Campus, Hyderabad. The launch event was attended by L. Rama Devi — Officer on Special Duty (OSD) ITE&C Department, State Govt of Telangana, Jayesh Ranjan — IT Secretary, State Govt of Telangana, Rajesh Dhuddu — Practice Head of Blockchain, Tech Mahindra; Raghu Mohan — CEO and Co-founder, IBC Media.

T-block has been set up with a three-way collaboration between the Telangana Govt, Tech Mahindra, and us — IBC Media. We will be working together to clear the path for startups to register, participate, learn, and establish businesses that will scale-up.

We’re working with big players who are leveraging IBC Media’s drive to empower innovation.
