Ibero-what?

The idea behind this publication is to provide a home for writing about Spain, Portugal, Latin America, their cultures and languages, and how they interact with one another and the wider world.

The ‘Iberosphere’, in other words. It’s hard to find a term that covers that whole concept, but I feel Iberospherical does the job.

So what can you expect to find here, and what kind of stories would we (technically ‘I’ for the foreseeable future) be interested in publishing?

I have created an archive list of all the stuff I have written so far on Medium in the past eight months or so that would be here if it hadn’t already been published elsewhere. Some specifically about life in Spain, or the Spanish language. Others just incidentally referencing Spanish culture, as I have lived here for the last couple of decades.

My initial idea had been to create a publication specifically for Spain. But that seemed too narrow. It’s impossible to understand the country’s culture and languages without also reflecting on neighbouring Portugal, and the whole of Latin America. As well as the diaspora of all those countries, above all in the USA.
