My (Very Cheap) Phone & Internet Bill Just Got Even Cheaper

Why can’t the US be like this?

My wife and I pay €51.90 a month (total) for our internet and phone bills.

And to be clear, that price includes both of our mobile plans (100 GB data — with rollover each month) and our home internet (500 Mb speed fiber). It also includes membership to Amazon Prime here in Spain and a Netflix subscription.

The point is, Pepephone is a sweet deal, and one that I’d have a hard time finding in the US.

Pepephone internet and mobile plans as of 9/20/2024 (ours is a little different)

So you can imagine my anxiety when I received an email this morning from Pepephone about our monthly rate. My mind kicked into overdrive:

  • Is our bill going up?
  • Is our data going to get throttled?
  • Are they going out of business?

But it turns out that my panic was unjustified because not only is Pepephone not raising our rates or cutting our plan — they were writing to tell us that they were going to be lowering our internet bill and adding data to our phone plans.
