One of the most original post-apocalyptic films ever. A canny study of trust & loyalty.

It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but perky though it is not, it’s a great piece of film-making.

The story: The film takes place when oil production has ceased, which has resulted in a total economic collapse, the fall of society, and a severe drop in the population.

The Survivalist lives off the grid, and by his wits, on a small plot of land in the forest. When two women show up having discovered his forest refuge, looking for food and shelter, his existence is threatened.

That’s pretty much it. But so beautifully told that what’s laid bare before the end are considerations hardly on the page at all, such as what constitutes trust? And that, once given, it has an expiration date as well. Pretty good stuff. Well done.

This captivating post-apocalyptic thriller from writer/director Stephen Fingleton has been hailed by Indiewire as “Mad Max in the countryside”, “tense and gripping from start to finish” by Esquire” and “Masterful” by Time Out New York, in its 5 star review.

The film boasts stellar performances from Martin McCann (’71, Shadow Dancer, X+Y), Mia Goth (Nymphomaniac Part II, A Cure For Wellness,) and Olwen FouĂ©rĂ© (This Must be the Place).
