Holi @ RCED

This week India celebrated Holi. Holi is the festival of doing and color. People celebrate it by putting colorful powder on each other and wishing each other happy Holi.

Holi fell on Thursday March 21st. Our host NGO RCED decided to honor us and have a Holi celebration in their office on Wednesday.

They students decorated the hall floors with flowers and the walls with balloons and streamers

They had a whole program with two MCs who were great. The program consisted of two plays about how to have a safe Holi. One of the students wrote a paper that they read out loud about the history of Holi.

The put together two games for all of us IBMers to play (Ellen Bellino, Milan Foltín, Saki Nakata, Nacho and Xuesong). The first one involved the guys on our team and Ellen had to sew as many buttons as they could in 2 minutes. Ellen won!

They we played musical chairs and I won.

Next came fabulous dancing. We had dances from Himachal Pradesh and of course Punjabi Bhangra! After all of this our intern Sonny started getting us with the colors and we all got covered along with the staff.

After the dancing the staff started covering us with colored powder and we did the same.

We were thoroughly colored and are still finding little bits of color in our hair and on our shoes cloths and backpacks. I hope I will still find a bit of it in little places when I get back to DC to remind me of this wonderful day and our RCED Family.
