Last Friday March 8 we celebrated International Day of the woman with our NGO hosts RCED. The students gave speeches and played local Punjabi music and several groups performed Punjabi dances. We felt so honored. The students are so polite and professional. I loved seeing their joyful faces when they were performing and how proud they are of their local culture. At the end they got all 6 of us up and we learned to Punjabi dance as well. It is a beautiful art form and I know I do not do it justice, but I had a wonderful time.

After the celebration in the RCED office we were take to a Women’s college in Chandigarh to speak at the graduation ceremony for one of RCED’s entrepreneurship 4 day seminars. We again felt so honored to be included in this event. All 6 of us spoke at the ceremony sharing the importance of enhancing your skills and getting a job and the value that empowering women brings to the world. We then got to present the certificates to the students and talked to several of them about what they were studying and their aspirations for jobs after school.

Two days later our Host NGO showed us that we had made the local paper! Being with so many inspiring young people that are trying to make their dreams come true really filled my heart that day. We are so glad to be able to help RCED grow to reach more of these bright and impressive young people.
