Once I accepted the assignment, the next steps kick in very fast. The team was defined with a coordinator assigned and weekly calls set up for the following three months!

It’s a 15-member team comprising of participants form USA, Romania, India, Italy, Denmark, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, UK, Kenya and Germany — In deed, it’s diverse, am looking forward to meeting the team face to face.

Pre-in country activities constitutes a set learning material and both group & individual assignments and health and logistics whose progress are tracked and discussed during the weekly calls.

Interesting journey as it kicks off, getting to know the team and from general introduction you realize that despite being located miles apart, there is something common with some of the participants, interesting coincidences.

Some of the education covered, included team dynamics and development, Emotional intelligence in teams, Cultural adaptability — interesting tool to see how compatible you are, where to improve on, it covers different countries and their cultures, and one could also use it to match traits with others!

As the weeks goes by, the larger team is sub divided to smaller sub-team, more topics are covered i.e role of IBM in emerging markets, Consulting skills, project impact analysis, as these carry on the discussions get passionate and I cannot wait to get to the action.

Finally at the end week eight, the projects are announced, high level scope of works is shared and the participants are once again re-assigned to the projects in new sub teams. Following weeks featured further discussion on the project details, logistics and getting ready to Travel to Thailand.

It has been an intense 12week Pre — Work activities and later on today I travel to Bangkok.

Its time now to go through my checklist. Bangkok here I come…
