Join us at the IBM Community Festival!
Today was the first day for the IBM Community Festival! While previously we only had one- to two-day events, we now have events spread out over the next two weeks. The festival is hosted online on IBM Expert TV, so you can join asynchronously and catch up or join talks that work for your time zone.
We kicked off the festival earlier with a keynote speech by Rob Thomas, Senior Vice President of Global Markets at IBM, which you can watch here to start your experience at the festival.
We went through the entire schedule, and we’re really excited about the following sessions and would like to highlight them here:
- Re-Imagining IBM DataStage, Speakers: Jessie Snyder and Stephanie Valarezo
- Natural Language Processing with IBM Watson and Pandas DataFrames
- AutoAI for Text, Speaker: Lucian Popa, Kiran Kate
- Data Science in Spanish AOT Initiative, Speaker: Marcelo Ripoll
- Cross Roads of Machine Learning and Data Science, Speaker: Armen Pischdotchian
- Gradual AutoAI, Speaker: Kiran Kate and Avraham Shinnar
For those wanting to give back during the festival, Goodera and the IBM Community are hosting five sessions that allow for festival participants to give back to the larger community. Goodera supports non-profits through facilitation of corporate and group volunteering events. IBM Community is proud to host five live volunteer events throughout the course of the IBM Community Festival. Today, the team created STEM flashcards for Boundless Brilliance. This organization, based in Los Angeles, CA, brings free and empowering STEM workshops to elementary schools in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Goodera’s remaining events during the Festival (all events begin at 8:30AM Pacific time, and please join the session with your camera on):
Record Audiobooks for Children — November 9th
Join us to record audiobooks of stories for children in care who face medical challenges at Ronald McDonald House Charities, Phoenix. Meet us on zoom and plan to join with your camera on for some great photo opportunities. Please ensure you have a mobile phone with a voice recording app installed and a quiet place to record prior to the activity.
Create Flashcards on Monumental Events of Black History — November 10th
In this session, we will create flashcards on monumental events of Black History for Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida.
Create cards/letters to show support for the trans-community — November 16th
Our fourth event at the IBM Community Festival is creating cards/letters to shower support to the trans-community at Point of Pride.
Create flashcards to inspire future STEM leaders — November 17th
Come and join our last session of the festival where we once more make STEM flashcards to support the work of Boundless Brilliance.
We look forward to seeing you at the Festival. Be sure to subscribe to IBM Expert TV to join the festival, and favorite your talks to be able to go back and view them again whenever you want.
