Tune in to our annual conference, Think 2018, to hear more announcements from IBM. Get started with Watson Visual Recognition today through IBM Cloud.

At IBM Watson, we’re continuously engaging with our users to identify opportunities to improve the Watson Visual Recognition service. After months of research, planning, and development, we’re excited to announce a number of heavily-requested updates that will transform how our users engage with the service.

Core ML enables Watson for iOS apps

Apple and IBM are expanding their partnership today to bring IBM Watson services to Apple’s Core ML framework. Users can now build custom models using Watson Visual Recognition and integrate them into enterprise apps running on iOS devices. These models continue to function even when offline and allow for continuous learning based on user input. As part of this announcement, we are offering IBM Watson Visual Recognition for Core ML for free as a special introductory pricing.

Watson Studio streamlines training

We’re excited for developers to begin exploring Watson Services for Core ML, and we’re introducing state-of-the-art tooling to make it easier than ever to get started. In redesigning our tooling for Watson Services, we worked closely with our users and stakeholders to identify pain points of existing tooling experiences on the market and craft an improved workflow. We’re excited to introduce Watson Studio, which offers a seamless tooling experience for users of Watson Visual Recognition. From creating custom galleries to handling image batches, Watson Studio enables developers to quickly and easily solve complex use cases across any industry.

New pricing for Watson Visual Recognition

To better accommodate these new capabilities coming to Watson Visual Recognition, we’ll be introducing new pricing for the service soon. The revamped pricing structure will make it easier for users to accurately budget usage, and heavy users will find attractive new options to match their needs. Stay tuned for further details!

Improved performance for Custom Models

Learn more / Get started

One of our most popular features, Custom Models enable users to build unique models tailored to their specific business needs. We’ve implemented a number of machine learning enhancements that improve both the performance and stability of this feature. Custom Models created starting today will demonstrate improved confidence scores, faster response times, better scaling for large volumes, and Core ML availability.
