Start Tipping with ICON TipTap Bot by ICONOsphere

Incentives play a major role to motivate individuals in whatever they are doing. With the tipping culture in every service we give or take, it has mostly been a positive gesture. ICON, a South Korean blockchain project has got a community that consists of motivated individuals and teams from all around the world. So, ICONOsphere, a public representative team for ICON is preparing to come up with a tipping bot to help acknowledge the contributions made by the community.

The bot is available in the Telegram Platform which is also the largest community for the ICON Project. The community consists of P-Rep, ICONists and other people who are contributing to growing the ICON in any way possible. As we know, every tweet, article or other content on ICON, creates a possibility of growth for the ICON ecosystem. These contributions have an indirect impact on the contributors but not a direct one. With the tipping bot, they can be rewarded and can initiate a social process for the increase in the number of contributors.

Platforms like Brave and Steem have been around for some time and they have been doing well with their rewarding process. Brave platform uses Basic Attention Token ( BAT) to incentivize content creators rather than the revenue creators get from the ads. This way both the creators and the users are benefitted without having to view the ads. However, to be able to Tip BAT tokens, one must use a Brave browser while viewing the creator’s platform. Whereas Steemit is a platform where content creators and content curators are rewarded with steem tokens. The quality of the contents can be determined by other publishers or readers with the help of aggregated upvotes or downvotes. Tipping bot in other hand makes it an easy process to reward contents and contributions in any platform. All you need is a telegram handle and a wallet.

Here are the steps you can use for tipping someone using the bot

1. Go to https://t.me/icontiptapbot

2. Start Conversation with the bot. You will be provided with the steps to use the bot.

3. Click on Deposit. You will be asked to enter a wallet address.

4. You will be asked to make a deposit to a new address of a sub wallet. This is a verification process before you can tip someone or get a tip.

Remember: A sub wallet is a smart contract which is a code that runs on a blockchain platform and keeps your token safe like your wallet. You can always get back your token to your wallet by clicking the Withdraw button.

5. After the transfer, you always have an option to check your Balance by clicking on Check Balance.

6. After the transfer is successful and balance check, go to the tipping bot group and reply to the message of the individual you want to tip your token. You can write /icx {Amount of ICX} to tip ICX. (Minimum 1 ICX — Maximum 100 ICX)
/tap {Amount of TAP} to tip TAP token. (Minimum 1 TAP — Maximum 1000 TAP) as a syntax for tipping the tokens.

7. A confirmation message will be shown saying that you have tipped the user.
