Absence Of Friendship
A poem about the lack of friendship —
We have it all but nothing at all
Screens without dreams to fill them
We are disconnected from ourselves
Like old landlines sitting in disrepair
Alone in a shapeshifting world
One filled with bags of uncertainty,
Young women and men without
friends or comrades to vibe with
To vent worries and woes to
Because of this tango with technology
We have lost something crucial
The soul of human society
People don’t interact, they isolate,
In public shrinking into themselves
The phone is a shield and a cage
Keeping people out
and letting the cold emptiness in.
Thank you all for reading. Hopefully in the future, writing letters will be back in fashion and we can all reconnect without screens ❤
