Wondering how we got here?

This year, ICE Malta’s talented Cisco students competed with more than 10,000 students worldwide in the Cisco NetRiders competition and managed to rank 1st and 6th in Round #2 competing with international talent from Europe, Russia and CIS. ICE Malta’s Kirsten and Silvio are both in the world’s top 20 list and will compete in the finals this September.

They didn’t break a sweat.

We mentored them, they worked hard and we’re now celebrating their phenomenal results.

Here’s what’s up for grabs.

Our two Cisco superstars might find themselves packing their bags for an all expense paid study trip to Cisco California and saying hello to dozens of career opportunities in the Global ICT Arena.

New records for our islands.

  • Kirsten snatches first place in Round #2
  • ICE Malta has 2 students now competing in the grand finals

Cause for a celebration don’t you agree?
Luca Lepore, Cisco’s Education Program Manager, is just as thrilled as we are and he flew in to join us.

So here we are…

Walking up the stairs of the majestic Auberge de Castille. We’re getting ready to meet Hon. Silvio Schembri, Malta’s parliamentary secretary for Digital Economy, Financial Services and Innovation.

Hon. Schembri wanted to personally congratulate our students and take the time to honor their success, and we can’t wait to flaunt our talent and explore ways of how we can help build to extraordinary business hype and show the world that when it comes to ICT talent Malta is Europe’s gem.

This is what happens when we work together

Thanks to Cisco NetRiders and loads of initiatives we tirelessly work on, Malta is getting noticed for the right reasons. Because of our persistence, drive and dreams, a light is shining on our islands and we’re as proud as punch.

Stay tuned. This story is just going to get better.

Getting in the Cisco celebration vibe.

Here’s some history.

Let’s hop into our time-machine and travel back to 2013. Ryan Chetcuti made history for Malta when he won Cisco’s most prestigious global competition. He flew off to the Cisco Headquarters in California and was later handpicked to work with Cisco — massive accomplishment for Ryan, super proud moment for Malta.

In 2014, Christopher Demicoli stole the show in the semi-finals and was so close to securing the crown, he placed second instead — we were so close, bitter sweet.

Then in 2015, notwithstanding Cisco’s new competition format, ICE Malta student Pavel Roth skillfully secured his spot in the first ever Round #3 and this year, Kirsten placed first in Round #2 — a new record for Malta, and Silvio positioned himself in a comfortable 6th place.

Both will be competing in the finals and we have a feeling our celebrations aren’t going to stop here.
