Seoul, South Korea to Develop City-Wide Cryptocurrency
Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, is developing its own cryptocurrency, called “S-Coin,” which could be used in government-funded social benefits programs. According to CoinDesk, the mayor of Seoul, Park Won-soon, also said that his city will create a blockchain development and startup fund. “As Seoul is the world’s leading city in the field of information and communications, including the Fourth Industrial Revolution, I think we should study new technologies such as blockchains.” Won-soon said.
Astronaut Capital Partnering with Bloomberg on Cryptocurrency Research
Astronaut Capital has announced it is partnering with Bloomberg to contribute to Bloomberg’s platform. According to a press release from Astronaut Capital, its wholly-owned subsidiary and cryptocurrency research house, Picolo Research, will “be commencing distribution of its ICO and market analysis through the Bloomberg platform” — which currently has over 325,000 subscribers.
Google Banning Cryptocurrency Mining Extensions from Chrome Web Store
Google is prohibiting cryptocurrency mining extensions from Google Chrome’s web store. Google claims that “approximately 90 percent of all extensions with mining scripts that developers have attempted to upload to Chrome Web Store have failed to comply” with the company’s Chrome web store policies. According to Gizmodo, Google’s Play Store has also had issues with fraudulent cryptocurrency-based applications.
John McAfee Charges $105,000 For Each Promotional Tweet
John McAfee has disclosed that he charges USD 105,000 for each promotional tweet for an ICO. According to The Verge, McAfee claims 259,000 of McAfee’s 810,000 Twitter followers “have more than 50 percent of their total assets in cryptocurrencies.” He suggests that his Twitter following, therefore, represents a minimum of USD 4.48 billion in potential cryptocurrency investments.
