SIMILAR PROJECTS

BloXroute looks similar to Raiden Network project.

WP (TECHNICAL PAPER)

BloXroute is a new network abstraction layer to enhance blockchain scalability.

The major problem for the current implementation of blockchain projects is scalability, which is limited by the existent P2P propagation model. To resolve this issue bloXroute developers propose their neutral, scalable and auditable decentralized blockchain distribution network.

The BDN operates on four main principles:

  • Keep data in memory (it is faster to retrieve data from memory than from disk).
  • Keep strong network infrastructure (gigabyte blocks).
  • Have locations all around the world to facilitate faster look up.
  • Have fast routing tables to quickly find the fastest and the closest location and provide the data.

EXPERT’S REMARKS

«They want to develop decentralised «highways» for blockchains and other distributed systems. Faster delivery of batches at the expense of more efficient propagation of new blocks in the network, will allow more efficient blockchains.

ADVANTAGES

  1. In high demand: Bitcoin miners use such «highways’ to increase revenue.
  2. Availability of previous experience: some team members developed similar project for Bitcoin (Falcon).
  3. In high demand not only for blockchains: any distributed systems will benefit from faster blocks delivery and fast delivery network charging a modest fee will help any startup operating in this area.

DISADVANTAGES

  1. Discouraging marketing: their major point is «to increase the throughput of existent blockchains in 1000 times», which is actually «we try to develop a network that can make a Bitcoin-like currency 1,000 times faster than Bitcoin», which is definitely not the same.
  2. In-built security, first of all, it is not that safe, secondly, at a rough estimate, it reduces the network throughput at least 1,5 times in comparison to similar network without any securities. It means that hardforks, which ensure safety via a different way (e.g. via the administrative centralized way) will be more competitive.

WP is rather elaborate, but there is a lot of excessive information. However, it is worth noticing, that the main concepts of the project implementation are explained in full. In addition, beware of hardforks!»

Advisors — TOP!

GENERAL CONCLUSIONS

The project is at the early stage of development: the only information is available at the web-site and Twitter. However even as of today we may say that the team plans to solve one of the most acute blockchain problem — scalability! It is supported by a reasonable WP, skilled and well-educated team, strong investors and TOP advisors.

Red Flags: as of today we may point out the absence of GitHub, metrics and project partners (though all these may be attributable to the early stage of the project implementation). In addition, despite WP advantages, it is not good that there is too much irrelevant information.

There are a lot of tools you can find on the website: a calendar with all upcoming ICO events adjusted to your time zone, social statistics on projects, open whitelists and etc. Simply scroll down on the main page. Till next time!
