The election of Public Representatives (P-Reps) for the ICON Network is the first of four milestones for ICONSENSUS, the journey towards mass adoption of blockchain. Here are 5 reasons why you need to vote:
I. You get paid for voting. You can vote for P-Reps in September by delegating your stakes, and in return, get rewarded for it (Yellow Paper Part 3: IISS)! Voting doesn’t end there. You can continue to earn rewards by delegating stakes to DApp Booster Programs (DBPs) and Ecosystem Expansion Projects (EEPs) — all of which help contribute to the growth of the ICON ecosystem.
II. P-Reps have an economic impact on you. Representatives determine economic compensation, therefore, the amount you receive from staking is ultimately decided by them.
III. Representatives are responsible for the security, reliability, and maintenance of the ICON Network. The base currency of the ICON Network is ICX, and all economic activities that take place in the ICON Network are based on the value of ICX. You want to vote for Representatives that will ensure stability of the network.
IV. P-Reps are responsible for the growth and acceleration of the entire ICON ecosystem as members of ICONgress.
V. Representatives form and implement wide-ranging policies that determine the long-term development and success of the ICON Network. For this reason alone, you should vote for P-Reps that clearly demonstrate to have the best interests in mind for ICONists of the ICON Network.
There is no real reason to simply let your ICX sit in a wallet or an exchange when you are rewarded for getting involved and contributing to the growth and success of the ICON Network. All ICONists benefit from being an active participant, so when September comes around, Vote. Spread. Disrupt.
