Last week we hosted two Meet the Managers events, one in Hong Kong and one in Singapore — our first ever events organized in Asia. The purpose of the events was to connect with our Asian community, get a sense for their crypto scene, and meet with potential DAA managers from the region. During our stay, we connected with some of the biggest projects in the region, including CyberMiles, TenX, Kyber Network, and Bluzelle.

Hong Kong

Meet the Managers events are open events that give anyone interested in the crypto-economy the chance to interact with our team and the event’s speakers (our DAA managers and other experts in the field), and Hong Kong was no different.

Gregor Zupanc of Solidum Prime

Gregor Zupanc, the DAA manager of Solidum Prime (SOPR), opened the Meet the Managers event in Hong Kong. He explained why people are investing in cryptocurrencies and discussed the recent market correction, Bitcoin’s volatility, and why he believes crypto is going mainstream. He also touched on institutional investors’ adoption of crypto and pointed out how small the overall market still is.

Levi Meade of Columbus Capital

Next to share his views was Levi Meade of Columbus Capital, who presented the company’s investment strategies and the logic behind each one. He also discussed the store of value aspect of cryptocurrencies as well as multi-billion dollar-protocols, foreign reserves, and gold, which he compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Aljoscha Frick of Future Chain Index

Last but not least was Aljoscha Frick of Future Chain Index, who was our best-performing DAA manager in the past six months. He focused on the future of blockchain and opened his discussion by pointing out disruptive innovations like cars and the internet. To put things into perspective, he presented the adoption curves of different technologies and talked about the current state of blockchain. He also shared his thoughts on the blockchain of the future and explained how he thinks the technology will develop.

Special guest Maggie Guan, general counsel at CyberMiles

This time we were very excited to introduce a surprise special guest at our Meet the Managers event in Hong Kong: Maggie Guan, general counsel at CyberMiles, who gave a presentation on her company and announced the launch of their cryptocurrency-only online marketplace, which is among the first e-commerce platforms to support only cryptocurrencies.

Connecting with other blockchain companies is crucial for the future development of the blockchain industry as a whole. In addition, we are regularly adding new digital assets to our platform to offer our DAA managers and users as wide a spectrum of digital assets and possibilities for diversification as possible. In speaking with other industry representatives looking for new ways to promote their projects in a more personal way, we decided to invite them to our Meet the Managers events to explain their project in more detail and on a one-on-one basis to our DAA managers, boosting their outreach to our users through DAAs.

We finished the event with networking, where people got a chance to interact with our speakers, with Maggie Guan of CyberMiles, and with Ahmad Shadid, the head of investment at Arabfolio Capital, whose DAA was recently added to our platform (watch his presentation on YouTube).

Singapore

In Singapore, we hosted an informal roundtable discussion between our community, our supporters, and potential DAA managers. After a productive discussion about the future of ICONOMI, ICONOMI COO Matej Tomazin announced the launch of our fiat gateway.

In addition to our Meet the Managers event, we met with three blockchain projects based in Singapore: TenX, Kyber Network, and Bluzelle. The purpose of the meetings was to get to know the people behind other blockchain projects in person, enable our DAA managers to do in-depth due diligence for their investments, and discuss crypto markets in Asia.

Asia is opening up its huge crypto-economy market, and we are already looking forward to our future events and company visits in this exciting region. The feedback we got from attendees and representatives from some of the biggest projects in the industry was incredible and will drive us to further create, upgrade, and develop both our platform and our events schedule. Visit our events page to stay updated on future events.

Hope to see you at the next one!
