Power war of Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHABS) and Bitcoin Cash SV (BCHSV) can increase BCH total hashrate.
Short-term benefits.
Just few hours before the fork, there is about 75% of hashrate on the SV side of the battle. But what does it mean?
Comparing BCHABC/BTC and BCHSV/BTC charts it seems that BCHSV can really compete with BCHABC:
So, the hashrate advantage really matters for now, but what can happen after the fork?
As the “real Satoshi” Craig Wright threatens to crash Bitcoin Cash ABC after the fork, ABC side will probably take some action. Assuming huge resources of Roger Ver and Jihan Wu it will be pretty easy for them to prevent any attacks by increasing Bitcoin Cash ABC hash powers. Except for spare capacity, BTC.com alone has 7.36 EH/s hashrate on Bitcoin which is almost two times bigger than the whole Bitcoin Cash network hashrate (4.14 EH/s):
So, if “Satoshi” tries to execute his threat, tomorrow we will probably see about x3 increasing of Bitcoin Cash ABC hashrate, which can lead to BCHABC price surge.
Long-term effects.
However, this situation seems to bring only short-term benefit for Bitcoin Cash. The fact that the distinct community of Bitcoin Cash developers and miners is not able to move in the same direction greatly reduces the prospects for Bitcoin Cash as a cryptoasset. The increased risk of centralization and non-obvious development management in the Bitcoin Cash are the reason for excluding BCH from Smarter Money index.
The significant resources of mining pools that support Bitcoin Cash anyway may allow the project to successfully compete with other cryptocurrencies in the future. Therefore, BCH remains outside ICU.me indices temporarily until the further development vector is cleared.
