Fish Out of Water

For our fish out of water piece I am thinking about explaining the final walk through at my last house. It was one of the most uncomfortable settings I have ever been a part of, due to the hostile dynamic between my old roommate Roxanne and our land lord Kevin. Throughout the walk through she kept making snide comments right in front of him about how the house was “a piece of shit”, and things along that line. Roxanne who is a 31 year old woman decided to bring her parents along during the walk through, and they both put all of us in a very awkward position. I was trying to remain neutral on the issue because Kevin is now coincidentally my new next door neighbor, but Roxanne’s mother kept telling me to ask Kevin when the carpets had been replaced last and when the walls had been painted last etc… The awkward tension was palpable, and it only got worse. Once the walk through had finished, Kevin served us with a final letter, and something about this letter set off Roxy’s 65 year old father, who decided it would be a good idea to try and fight Kevin. I happened to be standing between the two of them, and found myself holding back a SIXTY FIVE year old man who was screaming obscenities at Kevin. It was probably one of the most shocking, uncomfortable situations I have ever found myself in.

For the final piece I will go more into detail about the end of the walk through. I am curious if this will work for the assignment, if not I think I’ll write about going to a casino in Mesquite at 10:00 in the morning and how bizarre that was.
