Fish-Out-of-Water

For my Fish-Out-of-Water assignment I am going to write about playing video games. I have little to no experience playing video games and it is a thing that I don’t really understand. When I was younger, in elementary school, I use to play some video games on my playstation. However, I have not played any video games in well over a decade.

I am especially interested in exploring the game Fortnite. It is a pretty popular game and I have seen my brother and father play it but have never played it myself. I understand that this game is somewhat revolutionary in the video game world and I feel like it will be interesting to explore. I have a few friends who are really into the video gaming world who I’ve talked to about letting me play Fortnite with them on thier consoles.

When I was younger I really enjoyed playing the few video games that my family owned. I feel like I would have explored video games more if I hadn’t been told that I couldn’t play them because I was a girl. I have three sisters and one brother and my dad excluded his daughters from playing video games because he wanted to use video games to have a relationship with my brother. Because gender roles play such a large part in my current relationship with video games I am curious about how this will play out in my Fish-Out-of-Water article. I think it would be interesting to take this angle when I write the article.
