Mental Disability in the Media

For my topic I was thinking about talking about the Mental disability in the media, especially in the horror genre. There often has been a lot of movies that exploit the idea of mental illness and the killer, who more often than not is mentally disabled and needing help. This trope in the media more often than not vilifies the mentally disabled and further criminalizes the need for treatment. It doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be any more horror movies, this issue in the media can and should be remedied to help have more movies to get treatment for illness of the mind.
