Bloggers are not journalists. And journalists are not bloggers.

Bloggers don’t document reality, they only share their personal opinion about a certain topic. Although, freedom of speech protects individual opinions more than the truth itself. Everyone with an internet connection and a computer has the opportunity to share their personal opinion, thoughts, stories, work, brand, business, etc.

The source of blogging is based on one of the basic needs of humans. The need for communication. Furthermore, it feeds the need for belonging and bonding with your peers. Blogging (writing and expressing your point of view) offers the illusion of importance. But it is only an illusion!

Most professional bloggers are people with an extreme passion for specific topics. While they focus on research and writing, gradually they develop a depth of expertise and knowledge that tends to solve problems in a more smooth manner. For example, having studied almost everything about MRI software for a client’s website, literally helped me deal with a serious health issue.

Furthermore, they never jump to conclusions if they haven’t seen all the facts and aspects of an event. First, they double-check, and then they publish something. That has proven to be one of the top benefits of blogging.

Blogging cultivates the virtue of observation. It helps people to stay calm and use their brains before they express an opinion. A focused mind is a vital asset both for personal and business life!

How not to mention that blogging is also a great tool for personal branding. Giving free and valuable information to your target market, makes the market come to you. It is true, that clients know what is best for them and who is the best fit for their needs. Never underestimate a client’s IQ and EQ. Blogging can help anyone to sell their skills without even selling them.

But still, none of the above will ever transform a blogger into a journalist. If you are looking for facts then read a newspaper, not a blog. Stop confusing content creators with journalists. Opinions are not journalism.
