2023 is slowly but surely drawing to a close. So, we took the opportunity to come together as a company one more time this year and celebrated our 5th Collaboration Day under the motto “Embracing Change. Creating Unity.”

It has been a turbulent journey, a year full of changes and bold adjustments. We have repositioned idealo as a pure price comparison and have thus taken an important step on our mission to become the best platform for shopping decisions.

Together, we reviewed the year, looked back on our successes and experiences of the last 12 months and took a pause to see where we stand today. At the same time, we also used the day as a journey into the future, to motivate all employees to take the next step in their idealo adventure.

Opening Keynote

During the opening keynote, our co-CEO Jörn Rehse took an exciting look at the company’s goals for 2024 and thus open the next chapter on our journey.

Furthermore, Andreas Hankel (Chief Technology Officer), Rohan Garg (Chief Product Officer), and Petra Stühler (Chief Content Officer), presented their respective departments projects, achievements, and challenges of the past year.

Panel Discussion “State of the e-commerce”

During the panel discussion “State of the e-commerce” hosted by Diana Pauly, Head of Sustainability, our co-CEO Albrecht von Sonntag, Chief International Officer Fabio Plebani, Head of Sales and Account Management Theresia Fleischer, and Head of Marketing Tech Strategy Andrea Springer-Ferazin discussed the pitfalls of modern day e-commerce in Germany and Europe and how idealo will take on the challenge to get the most of the market as a leading product and price comparison platform.

In an exciting panel discussion, moderated by our Chief Commercial Officer Katharina Huke, live and up-close insights from various idealo retailers were shared. The panelists Marcus Willbold (Head of Marketing & e-Commerce at Expert), Dr. Tim Seewöster (Managing Director/CMO asgoodasnew), and Michael Pilzek (CEO Hood.de) reflected on the year 2023 from the perspective of online retailers on idealo, but also looked ahead: What are the challenges, opportunities and e-commerce trends for the coming year?

700 idealos attended in person

It was an all-around successful day, and it was wonderful to reconnect with so many idealos in person, which was one of the intentions we had when we created the concept of Collaboration Days: opportunities for all idealos to get together, network, learn and exchange ideas.

Session “Yoga at your desk”

Around 700 idealos attended in person and 45 session hosts and speakers presented a diverse program from AWS migration and strategic goals to yoga, wellbeing, the future of work, and navigating queer and women’s rights across time.

Under the motto “Embracing change. Creating unity.” we came together to network, share experiences, learn and deepen topics and ultimately strengthen our unique idealo culture in times of constant change. We created space for inspiring conversations, to exchange ideas in a small circle, to recharge our batteries, to strengthen the idealo community and to create a togetherness for the upcoming chapters and challenges.

After the day’s activities, we moved on to a celebration with a “Winter Wonderland” theme in the evening, where we properly wrapped up the day.
