Welcome, Harpaul Sambhi!

Harpaul Sambhi is one of those rare, few individuals born into entrepreneurship. He started his first business at age three, rebranding “Fruit Loops” as “Harpaul Loops” and selling cereal around his Toronto neighborhood to buy gum from the local store. The next year, he discovered economies of scale, pooling the lunch money of 20 local kids to buy gum in bulk for a 40% discount. Harpaul was mum about what happened at age five, but I am sure Wrigley sales hit a record high that year!

Today, I am thrilled to welcome Harpaul as our newest Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR). In the coming months, Harpaul will be spending time exploring product and business ideas, and sharing his invaluable guidance and expertise with our partnership and portfolio companies.

While attending the University of Waterloo, Harpaul started a recruiting agency and noticed inefficiencies in the world of job-hunting. After graduating in electrical engineering, Harpaul founded Careerify, a tech company leveraging employee social networks to generate candidate referrals.

Despite being completely bootstrapped, the recruiting platform acquired 250,000+ corporate users across 40 countries, achieving multi-millions in revenue and profit on zero salespeople. Linkedin took notice of the traction, and just six years after launching, Careerify was acquired in 2015.

After spending the last four years in product leadership at Linkedin and Microsoft, Harpaul is joining us to focus on his next move. Given his time in human resources technology, Harpaul is especially passionate about improving human productivity in the workplace, focusing on low-code/no-code platforms, data standardization, and the implications of remote work culture. We’ve been fortunate to work closely over the past few years with founders at Wrike, Command E, and other relevant investments.

Over the years in which we’ve gotten to know each other, I have always been struck by Harpaul’s incredible combination of hustle, product savvy, and humility. From toddler serial entrepreneur to the deeply impressive investor, advisor, father and founder he is today, we couldn’t be more honored to be part of Harpaul’s journey. We’re thrilled to support what he builds next!
