My story is about courage and great moments when least expected.

Life with Louie series

When I first watched the “Life with Louie” series on TV, I was in the middle school. I probably watched the series like a gazillion times. It was the 90s and the Internet was still a dream for me. So back then I didn’t know who Louie Anderson actually was. I discovered his career later probably in early 2000s when the internet came in my hometown. 😅

Who was actually Louie Anderson?

I was surprised to discover that he was more than just a comedian, actor and producer. He was a great person.

Some years had gone by. I re-watched the Life with Louie series on YouTube so many times that I knew the lines by heart. But there were not news about Louie’s career beyond the actual comedian shows.

Then The Baskets series came out. Louie acts there as a woman (Zach Galifianakis’s mom). He said that he was inspired by his own mother.

The Facebook post and the “Hey Mom” book

In 2017 Louie asked us in a Facebook post to talk about the best things we love about our mother and send the ideas to him via email. Probably we wanted us to be more thankful for our moms.

But I understood it wrong. 😁

Instead, I wrote what I loved about his mother based on the stories I saw in the Life with Louie series. He loved it and asked my permission to publish it in the latest book “Hey Mom: Stories for My Mother, But You Can Read Them Too”.

Somehow everything became an homage to his mother.

This is a way of the Universe telling me that everything has its own sense. So, now you can read my post into the actual book on pages 71–72. 😇

During the 2020 I wrote another article about my text appearing in his book and the actual courage needed to write that email. You can read it here.

BTW, you can still buy the book from Amazon and other online book shops.

Not sure if I could describe properly how I feel. Probably the best word would be “seen” or even “appreciated”.

So, Louie Anderson is gone now. Probably a better place, maybe meeting his loved ones, especially his mother.

In his loving memory I will always cherish the book and the series that shaped a great part of my childhood.

Here is also a great YouTube playlist that I created with his best interviews through the years:

Thank you and Rest in Peace, dear Louie! ❤️🤗

Love,
M.
