As a writing assignment I had to do an Instruction work related to a product that I already know. So I chose the Remington® Flan Iron S-6600 styler which is something I used to have as some point in my closet.

So here is my work. I tried to keep it as simple as possible, direct steps for each aspect, but without the actual company name in the list.

How to use the best of the Remington® Flan Iron S-6600

Remington® Flan iron S-6600 is one of the best flat iron products. Here are some instructions and advice on how to use it properly depending on your type of hair.

Safety warnings

Before listing the step-by-step instruction on how to use Remington® Flan Iron S-6600 please take into consideration the following safety aspects:

  • Do not use it near water. This means that you should use it in a different room that the bathroom.
  • Also, do not store it a place where it can have contact with water.
  • Unplug it after each time you use it. This way you prevent any possible over heating accidents and possible fire.
  • If the product accidentally falls into water do not try to reach for it. First, unplug it from the electrical source immediately.
  • Unplug the product before you want to clean it.

Warnings

  • Do not leave the product unsupervised when is plugged in. This could be a possible situation where a child or unsupervised person could be burnt accidentally
  • Use the product only for what it is designed to do. Use it properly according to the instruction’s manual
  • Do not use the product if it has any damaged parts or is not working properly
  • Keep the cord away from heated areas to avoid any over-heating or fire accidents
  • Do not use the product while you are sleeping or in any condition where your attention is not fully accessible
  • Do not drop any other object in the product’s opening and do not use it accidentally happens
  • Do not use it outdoors or where oxygen or aerosols are administrated
  • Do not use an extension cord
  • When it’s plugged in, do not let your eyes or skin to be in direct contact with the heated area
  • Do not place the product with the heated part in any surface. Use only protection supports when the product is in heating process
  • Do not use the product in temperatures higher than 140F (60C)
  • Use the product only to specific plug or adapted plug for 110V (US) or 220V (EU)
  • Do not plug or unplug the product if your hands are wet
  • Keep the product away from children

Product Features

After all the possible danger and hazard situations are presented, here are the step-by-step instructions on how to use it properly:

  1. First of all, make sure that your hair is clean.
  2. Make sure that you apply first a product for heating protection on your hair.
  3. Set the temperature for your flat ironing process:

How to adjust your curling wings

  • Select your desired look and adjust the curl wings prior to using the appliance. Curl wing can be warm during usage.
  • Make sure the curl wing lines up with the style setting indicated on the unit to prevent movement while styling.
  • Use a specific heating protection glove in order to avoid any skin burns on you working hand.

Auto-off

After approximately one hour, the styler will automatically shut itself off. To reactivate the styler, move the ON/OFF switch.

Tips for better usage: Straightening your hair

  • Hair should be dry and smooth, so remove any possible tangles
  • Use the temperature dial properly and wait for the plates to be fully heated with the specific temperature
  • Divide your hair in smaller amounts in order to manage better each part of hair
  • Test the styler on a small part of hair before going further with the entire process. If the product is not corresponding to your hair need than you should not continue.

Notes:

  1. If you decide that you want a different temperature for the straightening, simply adjust the temperature
  2. If the temperature is too high for the straightening process, then reduce the temperature of the styler. You might need to wait a few minutes for the styler to get the lower temperature
  • Pull your hair away from your scalp when you want to straighten it. This way you prevent any burning
  • Start the straightening process from the hair roots and go slowly to the end of the hair

Curling your hair

  • Start from the roots, position the styler with the curling wings closest to your roots. Grab a 1″ section of hair and place in the styler.
  • Rotate the styler inward 180° so that your hair is wrapped around the iron.
  • Move slowly the styler down your hair to the ends.
  • Twirl lightly the curl with your fingers to help set your curls.

Maintenance Cleaning

Unplug the styler before any cleaning process. Use a damp cloth to clean the plates and the outside part of the power handle. No other maintenance of the unit is required.

Storage

Unplug the styler after every usage. Wait for it to get cooler and then store it in the specific box. Keep it out of children reach in a safe and dry location.

Handle the cord carefully. Never wrap it around the styler. Avoid jerking, twisting, or straining it, especially at plug connections. Any cord ruptures might get the warranty to become null.

Performance Guarantee Limited two years guarantee

The company warrants the styler against any defects that are due to faulty material or workmanship for a two-year period from the original date of consumer purchase.

This warranty does not include damage to the styler that results from accident or misuse. If the styler becomes defective within the warranty period, the company will replace it free of charge. You can return your product and sales receipt with your name, address and daytime to the specified address.

  • Wrapping cord incorrectly around the styler causing premature wear & breakage
  • Any other conditions that are beyond the company’s control
