Dr. Hunt is the Director of Charter Schools at Fresno County Superintendent of Schools and a Senior Advisor at Friday.

What are you reading?
Shifting the Monkey by Todd Whitaker. It was recommended for managers and it definitely lends perspectives to varying personality types and promoting productive work environments.

What are you listening to?
I was recently turned on to Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead Podcast where she interviews leaders and change agents in many contexts. Guests have included President Obama and Angela Duckworth among others.

Favorite article you read recently?
It’s not an article, but my favorite publication I read in the last few months was the published Master’s thesis of one of my students who conducted a qualitative study on the experiences of African American students as a numerically underrepresented student group in a suburban school district. Her study was completed by interviewing seven recent African-American graduates from the district.

Favorite newsletter?
Educational Leadership from ASCD.

Favorite film?
Definitely Forest Gump. It’s a classic movie that uses film to dip into historical events.

Favorite social media account(s) to follow?
President Obama, Michelle Obama and NPR.

What have you changed about your work process over the past year?
I’ve planned standing engagement opportunities with my professional colleagues to ensure we continue to brainstorm innovations to support student achievement, leadership development, and effective organizational management in schools.

What are you optimistic about?
I’m definitely optimistic that some of the forced changes caused by COVID will remain as organizations have become more intentional about personal engagement, efficient, and creative in collaboration.
