What I checked on my list to E-commerce
e-Commerce has become the thing for this decade. And indeed a smart way to set up a business globally with fewer investments, more ideas and brilliant choices of products & services to sell online.
While working on a new project, that is incidentally an e-commerce project I went into a discussion with Sharva Jethwaabout what exactly do I need to think of if I want to have my e-commerce?
After some discussion on this, ample brainstorming and enough online research I was finally in the shoes of my client!
Hence a list of What, Why, Where, When, How- A Checklist to e-commerce strategy!
Know Thy Brand: What is the brand that I am trying to build? Name, colours, logo, tagline, the look, the feel, the word of mouth you’d like to spread about your brand!
Know Thy Products: Is my product easy to understand? What demographics and psychographies am I targeting? What market do I want to sell? How will the pricing be like & what can be the expected profit margins! Is it a utility product or a lifestyle product? How many different categories of products do I want to sell? Do my products fall in line with the Brand?
Manage Thy Inventory: This is so crucial! Should I stock up my inventory beforehand? Is it better to first take orders & then manage inventory? What is more feasible in terms of ROI?
Plan Thy Website: How should my website look like? What should the design be like? I want the pages to perform seamlessly! Is the website engaging enough? How SEO friendly should my website be?
Domain & Server Need: This is so important! The Domain name has to be unique & in sync with my brand name. What quality & quantity of traffic am I expecting on my website? I need a good server for my Website to work seamlessly!
Content is The Game Changer: What attracts the Digital Consumer today? Content! How will my products be written about? Is the content on my website SEO friendly? Am I on all the Social media Platforms? What is the new trend- boomerang? GIF? Cinemagraph? Videos? Photos? Stories? Snaps? Filters?
Photoshoot Gone Correct: This is one major point ignored by many! A good quality photo/ video speaks bounties for my products & content simultaneously! I should get at-least either one of them done. But where do I find the best photographers?
Find that Delivery Partner: Yes! Here you need to weigh the products size, weight, packaging, as it all affects the delivery cost. The costing varies basis on the delivery charges & commission, localities where I would like my products to be delivered! Also, Very Important, does my delivery partner accept COD?
How will my Consumer Pay? : I know a lot of customers want COD and some prefer to pay via card. What are the other reliable payment gateways? What are the interest charges? How do I set up payment returns?
SMS Partners: This is one of the smallest yet most important steps to provide good service to the customers! How do I find an SMS partner? Is my SMS partner prompt & seamless? Will it be able to provide international messaging services, in case I want to take orders globally?
How do I start making Sales? I am now sure about my storefront! How do I start making sales? This is where comes the Customer Acquisition, Consumer Engagement, Influential Promotions, Scalable Branding & Social Media Marketing, Google AdWords, Paid & Organic Search, Outdoor Marketing, and conversion of traffic on the website to sales.
