Group project: prototype
Individual blog for group project in Ideation & Prototyping class
Last week, continuing on our sketches, we began to build our prototype. Firstly, we discussed what content we want to display on NYU Longone website. Everyone sorted out the links that we thought are useful. Surprisingly, we found out all the information are really scattered, even for those in NYU Longone page, which may cause transgender patients really hard to find what they need. After collecting these links, we divided them into 5 categories: providers, counselling, surgery services, community and resources.
Then, we decided to do the workflow for the chatbot. It’s really important because our patients are really sensitive and we wanted them to feel welcome and not offended during the process. We referred to other health robots in the market, like stars(https://hellotars.com/chatbot-templates/healthcare/).
What we learned from them is how they greet patients and mentions that robot will make the dialogue really private, which may comfort patient really well. Besides, they also had pre-made answers and easy-clicked buttons to assist patients, which will make the consulting process more convenient and much faster.
Then, we created the user flow. The bot will greets them and make some quick introductions of NYU Longone. Then they click the content they want among 5 buttons. Then the bot will ask the patient whether they want to leave an email to pass the links directly to their inbox and ask whether they have other questions. Finally, they will also provide further phone contact for extra needs and close the dialogue. We prototyped our process on chatbot(https://www.chatbot.com/).
In terms of where to show our robot. We decided to show it on the transgender health page in NYU Longone website.(https://nyulangone.org/locations/transgender-health)
What I have learned
- Speak aloud about my own ideas and this will help everyone join in the discussion more actively, thus push everyone to find a better way to solve the problem.
- A user flow is really useful to guide the low-fi prototype. Coz, in the first, we did our prototype directly and found that we could only think about inserting the 5 buttons and links. Except that, we didn’t know what to add. After doing some comparative and competitive analysis, we then figured out important parts that needed to be contained. Therefore, we did our prototype smoothly after making a user flow first.
