NYU Langone Design Research: Weeks 3–4
In week 3 of this project, Mingjing Jiang and I interviewed NYU Langone’s LGBTQ+ Patient Liaison. This interview was invaluable because we were able to verify the usefulness of our proposed solution and learn more about the current patient feedback system in place at Langone. We discovered that there were major inefficiencies when it came to collecting and addressing feedback from the LGBTQ+community specifically.
Armed with this information, we further finalized our prototypes and presentation during week 4. I focused on creating a high-fidelity prototype of the external metric website. This website would collate all of the positive provider-specific feedback collected through the patient-feedback system and provide new and existing patients with an interface to find respectful providers verified by the community. In our interview with the patient liaison, we discovered that this list of preferred providers was vital for transgender and non-binary patients. At the moment, the patient liaison has an internal list that they use to direct patients to appropriate providers, so a publicly available resource would be very helpful.
