W5 Time Capsule Part I
I chose five items that are meaningful to me. When I reflected on the reasons why I chose these items, I found that they represent my joy of life, and each one has witnessed myself at that time. I brought these objects from China to the United States, and whether or not they have any practical function for me, I chose to keep them with me as mementos of my life stage.
I listed the things each of them commemorates.
1. Live House T-shirt
This T-shirt is a souvenir shirt that my friend and I got when we went to see our favorite rapper’s Live House for the first time in Chengdu, China. My friend has a black one. We had a great time that night and when we went home we changed into these T-shirts and took pictures. Every time I see it I go back to the happy times we had in Chengdu, to the crazy live house that night. Since then, I’ve worn it to many places and made many memories.
2. Harry Potter Chocolate Frog Card
As someone who has loved Harry Potter since elementary school, chocolate Frog cards must be a great collectible. This is the first time for me to open a Chocolate Frog blind box. I was lucky to have Rowena Ravenclaw, Because Ravenclaw is my favorite house. I am playing harry Potter mobile game launched by NetEase recently, and I am also one of the Ravenclaw in it.
3. Walkman Music Player
My father gave me this Walkman for my birthday when I was in high school. It is the Naruto special edition, which is very memorable to me as a former ACG fan. Since we weren’t allowed to use cell phones in school, I spent most of my time listening to music on the Walkman. I also download videos in advance and watch them on this tiny screen. It was one of the few times when I could just listen to the music, now I’m doing other things most of the time while listening. I just use the songs as background music, and a lot of times I don’t even remember any songs after it’s played. But when I listened to songs with my Walkman. I closed my eyes, I would identify the vocals and drums in the songs, many of which I knew by heart. At that time, I was preparing for the college entrance examination. This Walkman also relieved a lot of pressure and allowed me to relax for a short time.
4. Hamster Pendant
When I was in college I was a fan of SEVENTEEN, this is a fan-made cartoon character of one of the group members, a cute hamster that looked like a tiger. I loved this pendant, and I hung it on my camera bag, carried it everywhere, Seemed to tell the world, “hey, I’m a fan of SEVENTEEN”. My best friend Zoe was a fan of them at the time as well, and we were doing all the fan-stuff, buying albums, watching online concerts and singing their songs loudly at home together over the past few years. I still follow SEVENTEEN from time to time, and Zoe and I are still best friends.
5. Phone Case
I’ve been using this case for over a year because I love the color and pattern of it. I bought a lot of these phone case as backup, in case I’ll never get to buy it again if it stops producing. It‘s not difficult to find a case that you think is good. There are various patterns and shapes for the phone case now. But finding the case that you think this is the one at first sight can be difficult. For me, the phone case is a way to represent who I am. I think these little green fluffy balls fit my imagination very well, maybe I have one of them living in my head. I am a nostalgic person, if it doesn’t stop producing, I will always buy this phone case. It is not monumental in itself, but over time it becomes more and more indispensable.
