Preparing for validation

Spend some time to learn how to solve flips: Read the story about flips and test yourself in solving them.

Download and open your Idena App in advance or use Idena Web Client.

Use the Web Client if the validation is soon and you don’t have time to install the desktop app and sync the node, or you have a slow and unstable internet connection. Otherwise, you can go with the App.

If you are using the Idena desktop app, make sure your node is synchronized and the clock on your computer (the system time) is synchronized with the Internet time https://time.is/. Check the time of validation.

Five minutes before validation, you will receive a push notification, and a red banner announcing the upcoming validation will appear.

There will be two sessions within a validation ceremony.

Short session

First comes the short validation session. It consists of six flips. Be agile: You will have less than two minutes to solve them.

When the session begins, flips will automatically appear.

Read the two stories in the pictures from top down and choose the one which makes sense to you. If both seem to be senseless or meaningful, think of which one would be more likely chosen by most people. Then press the arrow to the right of the flip to see the next flip.

When you have solved the flips, the Submit answers button will become active — submit your answers then. Otherwise, they will be submitted automatically when the short session time is over.

Long session

Then the long — qualification — session begins. It consists of about 15-25 flips, and you will have 30 minutes to solve them. The flips will appear on your screen automatically on a white background after you have submitted the short session answers or when the short session time is over.

Proceed with solving flips as in the short session. When all the flips are solved, press Start checking key words. You will be prompted to qualify the key words relevance for the flips you have solved during the long session. Click Both relevant if the flip has been created using both key words. Otherwise, click the Report button.

When you have submitted the answers for the long session, wait till the session time is over and then another few minutes for the network to reach a consensus.

After the validation

When consensus is reached, your identity status on the My Idena page is updated and the next validation date is set.

After the first validation, you will become a Newbie and will be able to mine coins and create flips. To become a Verified identity, you will need to pass another two validations successfully. Please keep in mind that you cannot miss validations being a Newbie or you will lose your identity and stake.

Don’t forget to create and submit new flips before the next validation session!

Idena is the first proof-of-person blockchain where every node is linked to a cryptoidentity — one single person with equal voting power. Idena is one of the most decentralized blockchains.

To start mining Idena, you need to prove you’re a unique human. It does not require the disclosure of any personal data (no KYC). You have to appear online when the validation ceremony starts and solve a series of flip-tests (CAPTCHAs).

The Idena protocol solves the blockchain oracle problem: Its independent mining nodes can act as oracles across various blockchains. Idena accounts are compatible with Ethereum.
