Style Guide: Unraveling a web of potential lies.

--

In my topic product / brand picks of 2021 — I included Studio Suits. I then got a comment, from a guy named Todd — who I plan to follow up with. He is claiming that Studio Suits isn’t what it seems.

Instead he wrote me this:

“I’m glad you had a good experience with Studio Suits. I’ve only seen them as a horrible company. The measurements you send them are just a reference. They admit that they add a few inches to some measurements and not to other areas. What arrives is a very poor fitting suit. The site says they will remake the shirt if there is an error, but if they never accept the suit back and just claim they didn’t make an error, how can you enforce this? No refund, no remake, just a 20% discount on a future purchase. This is a Mumbai based company that just rotates sites (HarryFashion, MakeYourOwnJeans.com, LeatherCult.com, etc.) as they get bad reviews. Wouldn’t ever use them again.”

I’ve never been an investigative journalist — but this feels like a cool opportunity — to shine light not only on Studio Suits, but other online retailers that brand themselves as high end, bespoke, designer etc. Go to StudioSuits, or follow them on Instagram. Any information on this would be use. Ping me on Twitter @savileroh — or comment right here. If you want to stay anonymous, that is fine — but call it vanity, I’d want my name in there.

I believe it was only once that I got fooled by an online retailer — but now my radar is in the fast lane. I don’t like being fooled. I don’t like buying things that aren’t what they seem to be. I do not like the Orb of Harris being run through the dirt. For Scotland, for menswear, for Mother Earth, for shoppers everywhere, we’ll get to the bottom of this — and in doing so, it could open up a whole number of other culprits whose branding is perfection but are just stitching labels to legendary brands and passing them off as their own.

If true…it could be something, or nothing. That is the beauty eh?

Thanks for the insight Todd/Todd.

Working on putting together a team to work on this. Message comment if interested.

Let the journey begin.
