We need to talk about passwords

They’re cumbersome, weak and easy to forget, yet we love passwords anyway.

In 2016 alone, 3.3 billion login credentials were stolen. In the same year, 9 out of 10 login attempts were fraudulent.

Despite their flaws, our lives continue to be reliant on passwords. As much as we can’t get on with them, we’re just not ready to say goodbye.

If you can’t beat them

So what are we going to do about passwords? Well, we think we have an answer.

We built a password manager. Ta-da.

Hear us out. We know password managers are old hat.

But our password manager isn’t just any old password manager. Yoti Password Manager is a new breed.

For one, it doesn’t rely on master passwords like other providers do. Secondly, like all Yoti solutions, it combines verified digital identities with an individual’s unique biometric data to make you, the user, the only person that can access your passwords.

Why a password manager? Why Yoti?

The notion of identity means something very different today to what it used to.

It used to be represented by physical documents issued out by governments. Nowadays, your identity is most commonly represented by your usernames and passwords.

Every time you log in to Facebook. Each time you check your online banking. Whenever you succumb to the temptation of Deliveroo.

If our logins are such a vital part of our identity, how can Yoti help people to take ownership of their online identities by securely managing their usernames and passwords?

Our mission at Yoti is to become the world’s trusted identity platform. So until the world is ready to go login-less, why not build a password manager which has the usability of regular password managers, but that has Yoti level security to boot?

Solving the password problem

Passwords are broken for so many reasons. Among others, there’s the fact that:

  • We use weak credentials because we’re only human — we can’t remember 20+ unique, strong passwords.
  • Websites that require passwords don’t save them securely.

Yoti Password Manager solves these problems by:

  • Eliminating the need to ever remember a password.
  • Offering to generate strong passwords for every login.
  • Saving and retrieving passwords securely using military grade AES-256 encryption.

Better still, our password manager has been designed in the most user friendly way possible. We’ve invested a lot of time in making the way our password manager works, from being controlled by the Yoti app on your phone to surfing the web on your desktop, as seamless and aesthetically pleasing as possible.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s completely free? Download the free Yoti app and create your Yoti account. Then install the free Yoti Password Manager extension for Chrome or Firefox on PC or Mac.
