Box Office Collection: Golmaal Again crossed 100 crore mark, Secret Superstar fails miserably

While everyone expected Secret Superstar box office collection to increase post the strong WOM reviews, it seems like it has failed to make any impact at the box office. On the other hand, Golmaal Again which was not appreciated by critics has been making it big at the box office collection.

Secret Superstar box office collection started on a miserable note collecting only Rs 4.80 crore on the opening day, following that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the movie collected Rs 9.17 crore, Rs 8.38 crore and Rs 8.23 crore. But, on Monday it saw a new low as the movie collected only Rs 2.80 crore approximately totalling its collection to Rs 33.38 crore.

The movie directed by Advait Chandan stars Zaira Wasim, Meher Vij and Raj Arjun in pivotal roles and Aamir Khan in an extended cameo. The story follows the life of a girl aged 14 named Insia Malik (Zaira Wasim) who has aspirations to be a big singer and while her mother (Meher Vij) is supportive, the father (Raj Arun) detests the idea of her being a singer and does everything possible on his part to destroy her dreams. And here enters, the digital modern world as Insia starts uploading anonymous video recordings of her songs on YouTube which make her popular. Aamir Khan plays the character of music director Shakti Kumaarr who mentors Insia to fame and helps her realise the dream of being a popular singer.

Golmaal Again box office collection on the other hand as been very positive. It opened with Rs 29.72 crore, and on Saturday and Sunday, the movie earned Rs 28.13 crore and Rs 28.76 crore respectively. On Monday, the movie has been strong at the box office having earned Rs 15.25 crore totalling its collection to Rs 101.76 crore.

Golmaal franchise is directed by Rohit Shetty who is known for delivering commercially hit movies although critics have not been happy with his last few films. Golmaal Again stars Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Kunal Kemmu, Tabu and Prakash Raj among others. The story of Golmaal Again follows the story of the friends Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Laxman Prasad (Shreyas Talpade) and Laxman (Kunal Khemu) who decide to move to a new luxurious palatial house in the neighbourhood where they used to live. But, all is not good with the new house as they soon find out that the house is haunted. The rest of the plot follows how these friends along with some other help solve the problem of the haunted house.
