Mersal Box Office Collection: Opening collections breaks records; experts call it all time blockbuster
Vijay’s Mersal had already created record even before theatrical release when its teaser became the most liked teaser on YouTube. And now, it seems like Mersal box office collection is set to create more records for the Vijay starrer festive season release.
Vijay’s Mersal features him in triple roles. AR Rahaman’s music seems to be one of the highlights of the movie. Another highlight of the teaser and the movie is Vijay himself who seems to be on his top form in the film. The dialogue delivery in the teaser seems to be whistle-worthy and will surely make the audience go mad at the theatres when it releases. One of the dialogue from the 1 min 16 second teaser is “The spark of fire you set aflame, will ask you to blaze in all its glory. The deeds of karma you sowed, will wait to slice and stamp you with fury.” Mersal box office collection in the opening shows clearly make it Thalapathy’s highest grossing opening.
There are many points which make the movie an absolute delight to watch like the grand action sequences, crisp editing and the visuals which seem to be larger than life. The movie has been received fairly well by the critics as well who have justified it to be a mass entertainer directed towards a certain kind of audience. Mersal released in more than 550 screens in Tamilnadu alone.
Mersal box office collection on the opening day is said to be crossing the Baahubali 2 record by analysts. With nearly 100% occupancy in the prime locations and 75–85% occupancy in smaller areas, the movie will surely make and break records. Earlier, Baahubali 2 had one of the highest record of Rs 11 crore on the opening day, we will have the final report tomorrow. The top two positions of highest grossing openers has been recorded by Kabali with Rs 21.5 crore and Vivegam with Rs 16.25 crore.
Even theatre owners came out in support of Mersal as Nikhilesh Surya of Rohini Silver Screens tweeted, “My early predictions from reports- #Mersal will be @RohiniSilverScr All time highest grosser surpassing #Baahubali2. Fun fact- #Mersal Theatrical share surpasses #Bairavaa already @RohiniSilverScr #Blockbuster on the cards!!”
Ruban Mathivanan of GK Cinemas also expressed his views and tweeted, “#mersal will be easily thalapathy’s biggest opener. Pongal um thalapathy ku deepavali um thalapathy ku#MersalAtGKcinemas”
The movie has done a business of Rs 156 crores in pre-release and is expected to make it big at the box office today. Well, we hope that Vijay fever continues and the movie breaks all the records and makes new ones!
