Mersal Box Office Collection: Vijay starrer rakes in good collections despite opening on a weekday in USA

Vijay’s Mersal had opened to good response in the domestic box office and it was reported that the movie will break records on the first day. And now, it seems like Mersal box office collection USA is set to create more records for the Vijay starrer festive season release.

Vijay’s Mersal features him in triple roles. AR Rahaman’s music seems to be one of the highlights of the movie. Another highlight of the teaser and the movie is Vijay himself who seems to be on his top form in the film. The dialogue delivery in the teaser seems to be whistle-worthy and will surely make the audience go mad at the theatres when it releases. One of the dialogue from the 1 min 16 second teaser is “The spark of fire you set aflame, will ask you to blaze in all its glory. The deeds of karma you sowed, will wait to slice and stamp you with fury.” Mersal box office collection in the opening shows clearly make it Thalapathy’s highest grossing opening.

There are many points which make the movie an absolute delight to watch like the grand action sequences, crisp editing and the visuals which seem to be larger than life. Mersal box office collection on the opening day is said to be crossing the Baahubali 2 record by analysts. With nearly 100% occupancy in the prime locations and 75–85% occupancy in smaller areas, the movie will surely make and break records. In USA where the movie released in 129 locations, the movie has been able to rake in $346,050 (Rs 2.25 crore) despite opening on a week day. It is pretty impressive for an Indian movie to earn that much on a week day and we are eager to see how much the movie has earned on the first day in domestic box office.

The movie had done a business of Rs 156 crores in pre-release and is expected to make it big at the box office. The movie stars Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menon as the three female leads for Vijay’s triple role. Mersal is directed by Atlee who has co-written the film with K. V. Vijayendra Prasad and S. Ramana Girivasan. The editing department is helmed by Ruben while the Cinematography is done by G.K. Vishnu.
