Lifted • Butter
Also, apparently we’re doing music video world premieres now
Your introduction to the artist that is Butter is a shot of her using a pile of two-minute noodles as a pillow.
Butter is the “pastel alter-ego” of LA’s Lola Blanc, who you might recognise from her appearance in the season finale of American Horror Story: Hotel, or from her previous music under that name. This is a real departure from her previous sound — while Lola’s music is dark, brooding, and mysterious, Butter’s music is bright, neon, and pop as hell.
She’s previously written alongside SOPHIE and Ammo, and co-wrote the song Britney Spears got on the soundtrack to The Smurfs 2, which goes some way to explaining exactly why Lifted is such a perfect future-pop moment.
idolthreat has the worldwide premiere of the music video for Lifted, which we didn’t know was a thing, but here we are. It’s as bright and colourful as you’d hope for a song like Lifted. It’s just absolute aesthetic goals.

And besides, there just aren’t enough pop stars using mountains of two-minute noodles as pillows. Well done all concerned.
