DevConnect and ETHAmsterdam 2022 were a whirlwind of blockchain goodness and Yearn had a notable presence throughout the week. More than 20 Yearn contributors reunited at the conference and hackathon. We had a jam-packed week of talks, social gatherings, workshops, and meetings.

Here are some of the highlights our week in beautiful Amsterdam:)

Long Live DeFi

Yearn contributor Skeletor Spaceman took part in the DeFi panel organized by Maven11 & Framework, discussing the future of DeFi alongside thought leaders from MakerDAO, Gro Protocol, and FiatDAO. Have a look:

Evolving Compensation and Governance at Yearn

DeFi Ginger took the stage at The DAOist’s Global Governance Gathering to discuss the topic of compensation and how Yearn’s thinking regarding compensation has evolved. Listen to this talk and others that day here.

War Games!

The Yearn Finance x Tenderly War Room Simulation was the first security workshop of it’s kind! We had a packed house of developers participating in a high intensity capture the flag like game rife with surprises and curveballs to keep participants on their feet. From shitposters, blaring music, recitations of Euler’s equation and Taylor Swift, there was not shortage of FUD to keep participants on their feet.

Congrats to Team 10 for winning first prize!

Secureum Trust X and MEV Day

Leading security builders, researchers, and OG’s spoke at the Secureum Trust X summit to discuss and debate security ideas, learn about and launch security products and services, and identify ways to partners and participate in the community.

Storm0x from Yearn joined other security gigabrains to deep dive into the topic of bug bounties and whitehats and their impacts on driving security best practices. Storm0x’s talk starts at 8:55!

MEV is a centralizing force across stateful blockchains. Understanding how we prevent blockchains from falling into the MEV dystopia is pivotal to safeguard from its negative impacts. Skeletor Spaceman from Yearn joined other thought leaders to discuss the MEV supply chain. Skeletor’s panel starts at 4:00!

Meeting the Community

Previous night’s festivities notwithstanding, people were up early and bushy-tailed next morning for “Brunch with Yearn”. The brunch event provided attendees with dedicated space to relax, network, and work on their projects. Things really got into gear the next day when Yearn contributors meet for an intimate dinner. With the gorgeous exterior of an Amsterdam shipyard as backdrop, it was a great forum for team-building over delicious Dutch cuisine.

Daily Recap

ETHAmsterdam Hackathon

Congrats to VeriFried-Strategy and Archimedes for winning yearn’s bounties at the ETHAmsterdam hackathon! We had so much fun meeting with hackers building on Yearn.

Archimedes — 1st prize $2K

Distribution layer of investment strategies tokenized using ERC-4626 standard. Casual users and financial institutions can access levered and hedged strategies with a single transaction. Strategies provide a liquidation protection mechanism as well. See all the info and the video:

VeriFried-Strategy — 2nd prize $2K

An infrastructure with a simple trend following strategy where the user will be able to define and backtest the strategy and deploy it using smart contracts. The liquidity that is not being used at any moment of time could be deployed in Yearn, to earn yield in the assets that are not being deployed in the strategy. See all the info and the video:

Let’s build together!

We’d like to invite everyone to build with / on top of / alongside Yearn! That relates both to hackathons & having DAO grants & prizes at any time. Just suggest some ideas and start diving in, we’d love to help you out.

So, that’s it for this year! Yearn is thrilled to meet you again in the next ETHGlobal event. Until then, keep up with our blog for the latest on the Yearn ecosystem!
