iExec Dev Letter #10: Metamask and Brand New Website — 23 Oct 2017
Welcome to the iExec Dev Letter #10. Among the new features added during the past two weeks, you can now login with Metamask, submit a job that you will pay with your RLC, and manage both your ETH and RLC wallets using a new interface.
Executing Payments in RLC
You can use RLC to execute a payment and launch a job on the iExec network. This is an essential feature of iExec and is now running on Ethereum testnet (Ropsten, Rinkeby and Kovan). It’s available for you to try on our Katacoda tutorial that has been updated accordingly.
Perfectly matching both the white paper and the roadmap, the iExec SDK version 1.0 is now available. We’ll improve it into a version 1.1 that will include all the relevant feedback we will collect at the Devcon3.
Login with Metamask
Once you’ve unlocked your Metamask, you can automatically login on the iExec explorer. In the explorer, both Balance and Allowance are displayed, and values are expressed in nRLC (Nano RLC).
RLC wallet management
You can now use the following commands:
- iexec wallet getRLC to call the RLC Faucet (you can also go to https://faucet.iex.ec/)
- iexec wallet show to check if you have received your nano RLCs
- iexec account show to verify your credit for off-chain computations
- iexec allow 10 to credit RLC for off-chain computation usage (it uses the approve feature of ERC 20)
You need RLC to submit a job
RLC token was added to the user workflow which actually gives RLC token its true value.
The contract Factorial.sol interfaces the off-chain application with Ethereum. It extends the IexecOracleAPI smart contract.
Dapp Provider can set the DAPP_PRICE that a user will have to pay in RLC for the usage. If it is a free Dapp, he can set 0.
A Brand New Website
As promised, we successfully launched our brand new website a few days ago. It has been designed and implemented by Pixelmatters’s awesome team. We’ve built it as an information hub for all things iExec-related. It contains pages outlining our vision and team members, as well as pages explaining how developers can leverage the decentralized cloud we’re building, and how the RLC token fits into this ecosystem.
