Field Report: Changsha 2018 International Blockchain Conference

After an extremely successful weekend at the China Computing Federation Blockchain conference, the iExec team was warmed up and ready for action at the next international blockchain gathering in Changsha. This time, co-hosted by the Changsha Government, the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) and the China Electronics Corporation.

The aim was to promote innovation in the blockchain sector within China. The conference brought together companies with a focus on projects with blockchain-based with working solutions to real-world problems, to encourage collaboration between actors in the same field.

The iExec Asian-Pacific team - ready for action!

iExec had the primary goal of tapping into China as a technical innovation hub to form new strategic business relations. Being constantly on the lookout for future collaboration opportunities with both domestic and foreign companies, the iExec team exchanged ideas and made proposals with representatives from a wide range of industries. This is a particulary important focus for iExec as the roadmap moves forward towards an enterprise-ready version of its product that integrates the monetization of data-sets on the network.

Numerous blockchain enterprises were invited to share their expertise and views on the current state of development within the industry. Jean-Charles Cabelguen, Chief Innovation & Adoption of iExec, was also invited to speak at the conference. Jean-Charles shared key observations on blockchain trends in the US and Europe for and presented forecasts for 2019. This addressed scalability issues, competitors within the blockchain space and standardization.

Being chairman of the Trusted Execution Environment team at Ethereum Enterprise Alliance, Jean-Charles spoke on the topic of emerging standardization of blockchain use within enterprises, noting the importance of Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) based on Intel SGX technology.

As iExec has been at the frontline of blockchain adoption for major enterprises, the past two weeks in China were taken as a chance to explore future collaborations in the technology powerhouse that is China. We hope to be able to share some outcomes with you soon.

The two conferences were a perfect opportunity to spread awareness of the project to the public. As more new recruits from countries over the Asian-Pacific region join the iExec team to help in building our community, we’re looking forward to seeing an increased impact in China, Korea and Japan in 2019.
