OpenFog was founded by ARM, Cisco, Dell, Intel, Microsoft, and Princeton University, and has since grown into a robust organization with nearly 50 members from across the globe.

The consortium’s aim is to accelerate the deployment of fog computing technologies, with a focus on developing open architectures that will support intelligence at the edge of IoT.

Today, iExec is proud to announce it has become a member of the OpenFog Consortium.

Fog and cloud complement each other to form a service continuum between the cloud and things, by providing mutually beneficial and interdependent services.

Therefore, iExec wants to actively participate in the elaboration of standards and contribute to building a frame of reference in the fields of fog and edge computing.

Recent in-depth research by Christian Renaud predicts that fog computing and networking will be worth 18.2 billion by 2022. iExec intends to explore this fast-growing industry and position itself as a trend-setter along with other collaborating parties.

This is the mission statement of the consortium:

To drive industry and academic leadership in fog computing and networking architecture, testbed development, and interoperability and composability deliverables that seamlessly bridge the cloud-to-things continuum.
