Earlier this year, iExec launched the Community Rewards program. We distributed monthly rewards to those community members who contributed to community growth. This was our way of encouraging the community to become more integrated with iExec. Today we’re pleased to announce the next step.

Introducing the iExec Ambassador Program

Today we are delighted to announce the iExec Ambassador Program. This is the natural evolution of our existing Community Rewards Program. Over the past few months, several community members have proactively gone above and beyond their duties by offering timely, consistent, and beneficial contributions to the project. For this, we are delighted to welcome them as official iExec Community Ambassadors.

Why is this bullish for the iExec project?

Ambassadors will be essential to the growth of iExec, and for promoting overall awareness of our technology.

The community has often asked, “When marketing?”

The answer is: “Now.” — Community Ambassadors will serve as an extended marketing arm, spreading awareness by creating content, engaging in outreach, and engaging in discussions. In the few short months since Community Rewards launched, these Ambassadors have already shown how influential they can be. They’ve increased our online presence by creating memes, gifs, and videos. These efforts have landed us top spots on LunarCrush, a social intelligence platform measuring the intersection of cryptocurrency and social media.

They’ve begun outreach to the Spanish community, garnering 1000+ followers to a newly spun up Spanish Twitter account. Over the next few months, their efforts will undoubtedly increase our awareness in new markets and to new participants. This, in conjunction with iExec’s direction towards a Web3 Marketplace, should serve as the launching point for increased adoption, benefitting team and token holders alike.

Goals of the Ambassador Program

The goals of the iExec Ambassador Program are to promote iExec, the community, and the RLC token. The primary benefit of implementing and curating an Ambassador Program is to encourage highly-engaged, active community members to drive adoption.

Think of this program as a flywheel: ambassadors are given the tools to promote awareness, educate a wider audience, and drive the adoption of RLC. Doing so forms long-lasting relationships with the iExec team. Meanwhile, the iExec team better understands its community and pays the ambassadors for their contributions in RLC tokens.

Benefits of Being an Ambassador

We want to provide these community members with the resources they need to be successful.

The benefits of being an ambassador include:

  • RLC tokens for their contributions
  • Direct lines to iExec team through invite-only Ambassador Telegram channel
  • Exclusive invitations to software previews for the purposes of providing user feedback to iExec
  • Sneak peeks ahead of general public releases
  • Profile badges
  • Swag

In addition to all this cool stuff, ambassadors also gain experience in the blockchain industry.

Criteria for Ambassadorship

The current criteria to be an iExec Ambassador have already been discussed in the opening paragraph. For sake of posterity, here it is again:

An iExec Ambassador is:

  • A community member
  • that proactively and repeatedly goes above and beyond their duties
  • by offering timely, consistent, and beneficial contributions to the project
  • that are essential to the growth of iExec

Selecting Ambassadors

At the moment, there’s no official application process for the iExec Ambassador Program. Potential ambassadors will be selected by the iExec team based on their contributions on social media and their activity in Telegram/Discord. As we roll this program out, once we get a class of Ambassadors selected, these Ambassadors will assume responsibility for identifying other community members they want to bring on and when.

Do you speak multiple languages? Do you have experience with another crypto project? Or maybe you’re just passionate and interested in contributing based on your experience in Web3?

If you feel like you meet the above criteria, or have a proposal about how you could contribute to the iExec community, reach out to the iExec team via Telegram or Discord.

Ambassador Responsibilities

Ambassadors are responsible for campaigning on behalf of iExec. This promotion is aimed at increasing awareness of iExec, the community, and the RLC token.

There are multiple opportunities for contribution. This is a non-exhaustive list of some activities Ambassadors will be doing: developing campaigns that attract users, writing articles to promote iExec and RLC, creating memes, creating infographics, creating videos… basically creating content to promote, and educate about, the project.

Ambassadors are responsible for adhering to iExec branding guidelines when creating content.

Ambassadors can also organize meet-ups, organize hackathons, help bring more talented engineers to build on RLC, test out products, train new ambassadors, translate materials, and provide direct feedback to iExec on said products.

And of course, Ambassadors will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

iExec Responsibilities

The iExec team is responsible for identifying, creating, and continuously defining the participants and objectives of the Ambassador Program. This includes discussing marketing activities and opportunities (e.g. what content to post, where to post, how often to post, etc.). There are a variety of potential platforms ambassadors can target: Telegram, Discord, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, crypto media sites. Etc. And because there are so many different platforms, it’s important to remember each platform may have a different objective. We’ll help Ambassadors strategize, but will leave it up to the Ambassadors to perform these duties as they see fit.

During the Ambassador Program, iExec is responsible for training Ambassadors and providing them guidance around desired messaging, brand guidelines, and technical support. Training is ongoing and will most likely occur via Telegram and/or video call.

We’re responsible for staying engaged with Ambassadors via communication through a dedicated Telegram channel. This way the iExec team can gather feedback, listen to ideas, and update Ambassadors on their progress. And most importantly, we want to make sure Ambassadors are in touch with the iExec team, but also with each other.

The iExec team is also responsible for helping to identify rewards and distribute these rewards to the Ambassadors. As we grow this program, we’ll also consider segmenting Ambassadors by country.

What iExec needs from Ambassadors

In order to stay organized and compensate our Ambassadors, we might need to collect certain types of information. This could includes name, email, city and country of residence, social media handles. — If you don’t want to be doxxed, being an Ambassador may not be the program for you.

Terminating Ambassadors

If an Ambassador isn’t performing well or breaches their duty to act professionally, that Ambassador will be asked to leave the Program.

If an Ambassador fails to contribute for a substantial amount of time, then the Ambassador will be politely asked to leave the Program.

👋The First Ambassadors of the iExec Ambassador Program

According to the criteria set forth, it is with great pleasure that we announce Jon, JDR, Tudor, Paulo, Yderf, and Martin as official iExec Community Ambassadors.

Many of you will have surely already interacted with them in the iExec discussion channels. But in case you’d like to get to know them a little more, we asked each of our community ambassadors to present a few words about themselves:

Jon

I’m Jonathan from New York City. I work as a Fire Life & Safety Director. My crypto journey started in 2020 when I began accumulating Bitcoin and Ethereum. I didn’t get into iExec RLC till May 2021 around the time of the Coinbase listing. After watching the iExec intro video, I was fascinated by the potential of decentralized cloud computing and the ability to monetize your computing assets. I started by writing iExec-themed tweets based on cloud computing, web3, blockchain technology, and of course, memes. I’m active on Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. The best part about being involved in the community is that you make loads of friends who speak the same lingo.

JDR

I’m Jochem from Amsterdam. I started promoting iExec after seeing the success of Really Large Corgi’s work on Twitter. I started off with making iExec images and have since focused on making iExec community videos, with content ranging from cartoons to news updates to technical educational content (like on ‘Metacloud’). I’m active on Twitter, Youtube and Reddit. The iExec promotion has been enjoyable due to the great friends I made in the active community. It’s something to add to a long list of other hobbies — mainly playing all kinds of sports!

Tudor

I’m Tudor, I’m an IT guy living somewhere in Romania 🇷🇴 I love traveling and discovering new things, so I was excited when I came across the world of crypto in 2018. I then discovered iExec while looking for mind-boggling technologies that can shape the future. That’s when I became a ‘Zecker enthusiast and wanted to let others know about the huge potential of the project. I started running the Spanish community account to reach a wider audience and guess what, it’s working! I continue to actively research and share information about the project (for those who want it of course😁)and its best use-case narratives. You can find me on Twitter as @Doru5S, reddit as @Tudor224 and on Discord as @Tudor#2161.

Paulo Espirito Santo

My name is Paulo and I’m currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. Since 2009, I’ve been a Marketing and Project manager at a Portuguese Company for B2B clients. Outside of tech, I’m crazy about the sea and surfing. My other hobbies include Electronic Music Production and DJing. I’ve been into blockchain for almost 3 years. Oh, and on the subject of crypto, my astrological sign is BULL!

Martin

My name is Martin, I’m 28 and living in Milwaukee. I love playing chess and learning about history. I found RLC after exploring the most useful ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain (also inspired by Methanon threads where I eventually became an RLC maxi). I believe that computing and other digital resources are one of the most interesting fields for blockchain use-cases. I have been holding the RLC token for 5 years, since around the time of the ICO. I’m impressed by the increased scope and vision RLC has added throughout the years and love being a part of this journey. I am active on Twitter, Reddit, and help produce voiceovers for community-made RLC videos.

Yderf

My name is Fryderyk and I’m from Bulgaria. I’m currently working in tech support as well as working as a stage designer (VJ) part-time. I started learning and investing in crypto in 2020. I joined to support the iExec community as a promoter. Being part of this program and learning about the iExec technology stack has been a great opportunity for me. I like using Adobe PS and AI to create different covers for promoting iExec and using different strategies based on teamwork. My other hobbies are crypto, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, grand-MA, and traveling.

The team has been following their contributions to the iExec community, whether it has been creating educational content in the form of infographics or videos, building a following on their social media pages, or just promoting iExec by sharing news and answering questions on the discussion channels — there has been a huge amount of activity over the last few months!

For this, each Ambassador has been rewarded a back-pay of RLC token rewards, based on their time in the iExec community and level of contributions since early 2022 and will continue to receive rewards as long as they contribute during the Ambassador period.

The Future of the iExec Ambassador Program

We’re beyond excited to take this step to bridge our team with our community. We’re also aware that this is our first version of the Ambassador Program. As it takes shape over the next few weeks and months, we know it will change as our community provides us feedback. The iExec team is committed to growth and adoption, and we feel this Ambassador Program is the next step in this direction. Cheers!
