I’ve worked with many lodge and resort owners, and if there’s one thing I hear consistently, it’s this: “I just don’t have enough time to manage my social media.”

I get it. Running a lodge is more than a full-time job.

You’re managing guest experiences, coordinating activities, overseeing staff, and handling the day-to-day logistics that come with hospitality.

Adding social media and content marketing into that mix? It can feel impossible.

Many lodge owners start out with enthusiasm, but it’s not long before the constant need for fresh posts, engaging content, and regular updates gets pushed to the backburners.

What happens next is predictable — you start missing posts, falling behind on updates, and eventually, your lodge’s digital presence fades into the background.

And that’s a problem.

Without a strong online presence, potential guests might not even know your lodge exists.

Worse, your competitors — who post consistently you just can’t keep up — could be attracting the very people who would have booked with you (or maybe that used to book with you).

The Risk of Falling Behind

Think about it: Most travelers today are planning their trips online.

They’re browsing Instagram for destination inspiration, reading Facebook reviews, or scrolling through YouTube for videos of cozy lodges and breathtaking locations.

If your lodge isn’t showing up in those feeds, you’re invisible to a whole group of potential guests.

And while your focus is on running the lodge, your competitors are capitalizing on word-of-mouth online.

This story always pains me.

A lodge owner reaches out, frustrated, and says, “We have beautiful photos and so many stories to share, but I just don’t have time to post consistently.”

And the result? Lost opportunities.

Each day that goes by without engaging your audience is a missed chance to connect with future guests. It’s disheartening, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

The Simple Fix: Automation

This is where automation can be a game-changer.

The lodge owners I work with are busy, AND they want a vibrant online presence that reflects that. While you might think social media requires hours of your time each week, it doesn’t have to.

With automation, you can maintain an active, engaging digital presence without being tied to your phone or computer all day.

Let me walk you through what I recommend for lodges and resorts:

1.) Automate Routine Updates:

Start by automating your daily posts. Think weather updates, local events, and lodge-specific activities. This keeps your lodge top of mind for guests without requiring daily manual effort.

Once it’s set up, you’ll have consistent, reliable content going out automatically, creating a steady flow of updates that keeps your audience engaged.

➤ 2.) Repurpose Existing Content:

Here’s the good news — you already have content. You’re probably sitting on a goldmine of guest photos, videos, and reviews that can be transformed into engaging posts. Guest photos can be turned into valuable blog posts, and videos from past events or activities can be repurposed into blog posts then shared as Facebook updates.

One of my favorite strategies is taking guest reviews and turning them into blog posts and social media shares — easy, authentic, and great way to benefit from digital word-of-mouth.

➤ 3.) Focus Your Time on High-Impact Engagement:

With your routine posts automated, you can now spend the little time you do have engaging with potential guests in a meaningful way. Responding to comments, interacting with guests, and sharing personalized messages can make a world of difference.

You’ll get results from just spending 15 minutes a day replying to comments or sending a quick thank-you message to a guest who shared their experience online.

Overcoming the Fear of Automation

Many lodge owners feel intimidated by the idea of automating their social media.

I completely understand that fear — it feels technical and overwhelming at first. But let me assure you, starting small makes all the difference.

Automating just a few simple tasks, like daily weather or event updates, can free up so much of your time, and it’s far easier than you think. In fact, I walk my clients through the process step by step, and once they see how easy it is, they wonder why they didn’t do it sooner.

There’s also a common misconception that automation feels impersonal. But the truth is, automation actually gives you the space to be more personal.

When you’re not bogged down by the task of constantly posting, you can focus on those high-impact, one-on-one interactions that build loyalty and trust.

That’s what turns browsers into bookers — real, genuine engagement.

A Strategy That Works: Step-by-Step Guide

If you’re ready to simplify your lodge’s social media strategy, here’s a step-by-step plan that has worked for many of the lodge owners I’ve helped:

  1. Start with Daily Automations: Automate simple, routine tasks first. Weather updates, local events, and lodge activities can be scheduled to post automatically. This ensures your accounts are always active, even when you’re busy focusing on your guests.
  2. Leverage What You Already Have: Take a look at your existing content. Guest photos, videos, reviews — these can all be repurposed. For example, guest photos can become Instagram posts, and blog posts can be broken down into smaller updates for Facebook or LinkedIn.
  3. Engage Where It Matters: With the automation handling the bulk of your posting, use the freed-up time to engage directly with your audience. Reply to comments, answer questions, or share a behind-the-scenes moment from your lodge. These personal touches can make a huge difference.
  4. Expand Over Time: Once you’ve mastered the basics, consider scaling up. Automate your newsletter or even AI-generated blog posts. You can gradually add more layers of automation as you grow more comfortable, creating a powerful marketing machine that runs in the background while you focus on delivering unforgettable guest experiences.

The Future of Your Lodge’s Social Media

What if no-one could tell that your social media was automated?

What if that automation made sure your lodge is always visible online, sharing guest stories, sharing stunning visuals, and keeping your lodge top of mind in local events — all without you having to lift a finger every day.

This is the power of automation.

You’re not just maintaining a presence; you’re slowly building the content require to be seen as a topical authority thriving in the space, attracting engagement from potential guests that you can personally respond to.

With time saved, you can focus on what you do best: making your guests’ stays extraordinary.

I want to help lodge owners go from overwhelmed and disconnected to empowered and successful with just a few simple steps. The key is starting with small, manageable changes.

Automate your posts, train the ai to repurpose your content, and turn your attention to genuine engagement with people — where it matters most.

Your lodge deserves to be seen, and with the right tools, it can be.
