Expanding our team
iFly.vc was launched in September 2016 as a thesis-driven seed-stage VC firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. iFly embraces investment opportunities in spaces that may appear unglamorous but carry tremendous growth potential. The fund focuses on technology-enabled transformation across the value chain of traditional industries with the initial focus on commerce. The firm backs entrepreneurs with passion and grit through a concentrated portfolio while providing impactful value-add to them.
According to Cambridge Associates’ benchmark data, iFly Fund I’s performance (based on mark-to-market) as of September 2019 was rated the top quartile among the 2016 vintage VC funds. In October 2019, iFly launched Fund II.
In 2020, we aim to expand the investment team and seek to bring in additional investment professionals from the Associate to the Principal level. The position(s) will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and expected to cover the following responsibilities:
- Develop investment theses
- Assess investment opportunities
- Conduct due diligence
- Assist entrepreneurs in the portfolio
- Manage internal process and external network
Building a start-up fund is just like building a startup. We view it as a shared journey for everyone involved and aspire to grow together. There is no glass ceiling for career advancement. Everyone on the team has access to the carried interest.
The ideal candidate must have at least two (for Associate) / five (for Principal) years of prior experiences in management consulting, venture capital, investment banking, product management, and/or operations in industries that include but are not limited to: e-commerce, retail, supply chain, logistics, consumer products, etc.
The list of qualifications can certainly look like the following:
- Self-starter, fast learner, team player
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel and VC vocabulary
- Strong attention to details and ability to set and manage deadlines
- MBA is not required, but business acumen is
- Prior investment experience is not required
