#IGiveABuck… Do you?
On 8th November 2016, our world changed. Ever since, whenever we thought it couldn’t get any worse, it did.
What The F*ck Do We Do Now?
Perhaps the perfect way to express our feelings is by quoting John Oliver:
And the answer, fittingly, comes from Captain America:
We Fight
It’s a simple as that.
In the coming days, month, and maybe years we’ll hear a lot about things like
- the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s presidency,
- the interference and consequences of Russian interference in our elections,
- conflicts of interest between public service and personal business,
- and lots more.
All these questions are important, and we’ll make sure they’re discussed. But we’re not here to answer them.
Properly assessing and evaluating what happened in 2016 will be a long process, perhaps longer than the presidency itself.
We’re here to fight, right NOW. Whatever happens, the immediate reality is that our values are under attack. Because the progress we made and continue to make cannot be undone.
”What’s Worth Fighting For?”
We continue to support and amplify all those who call for fighting the big fight. But we’ve set out to fight the “smaller” fights, to protect and preserve the values we hold dearest.
We’re raising funds for ten non-profits on the frontlines of those fights.
What fights?
- Protecting our environment, and leaving a better world to our children than what we ourselves received — through the Sierra Club;
- Preserving our civil liberties, and fighting against hate taking legal form — together with the ACLU;
- Speaking for the most vulnerable, those who can’t protect themselves and deserve their future not gambled away — represented by the Children’s Defense Fund;
- Promoting diversity and acceptance, and giving help to LGBTQ teens — led by The Trevor Project;
- Standing for the respect and legal protection of reproductive freedom — with the Center for Reproductive Rights;
- Keeping the American Dream alive and supporting opportunity and economic security — with the National Employment Law Project;
- Protecting and advancing civil rights in our country — with the Southern Poverty Law Center;
- Protecting the free press, because they’re our first line of defense against government overreach — with the Committee to Protect Journalists;
- Healing the racial divide and fighting for true equality for people from all creeds — with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund;
- Shielding our most precious natural resource from industrial degradation and contamination — with Water Defense.
We believe the power of We The People, that together we can make a difference and support these causes and organizations.
The Mission
In the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s presidency we’re raising $100,000, evenly distributed between the above charities.
We’re a group of people who decided to act and put our money where our mouths are.
We’re not qualified, nor are we equipped to fight these fights. But they are. And the least we can do to show we give a f*ck by giving a buck.
What YOU Can Do
First of all, you can donate. Every penny counts, every dollar makes a difference.
Secondly, you can join the campaign. Share our video, talk to us on social media, convince your friends. Take the #IGiveABuck challenge: let your voice heard by showing off you give a buck.
#YesWeCan — #YesWeWill
On 20th January 2017, Donald J Trump will become the President of These United States.
But he works for us. So does Congress. We The People have put them where they are, and we have the power to tell them what to do.
”Decisions are made by those who show up.”
So show up. Take a stand for what’s important. Give a buck.
