Pre-Accelerator Teams 2019: Meet Your Medicine Your Choice
Hira Aslam is the founder of the start up tackling informational gaps present in our drug choices and consumption. If you are a vegan or vegetarian, from a particular faith or have any dietetic needs there are certain ingredients in medication that you cannot take such as gelatin. How do you know this? How do you even find out? Your Medicine Your Choice is key here.
What does Your Medicine Your Choice do?
Of course there are alternative medicines for those with dietary requirements but there is huge friction in getting a hold of them. They are never there at the point of prescribing or buying and this takes up time for you and your doctor.
This is where YMYC come in. YMYC provide you with alternatives so you get a choice and no longer have to suppress your moral compass for as basic a need like medicine.
The Ignite Experience
Hira, previously a full time pharmacist, joined the programme with just an idea about how to solve a personal problem — getting medicine that suited her beliefs. She has left with a plan and determination to solve this problem for all who are affected by it. When I asked her about the experience on the Pre-Accelerator programme she had this to say:
“If I had to sum it up in one word…I would say totally awesome… I wouldn’t change it for the world. I felt like a part of an amazing family.”
The access to mentors and advisers was the key for Hira. She highlighted mentoring day — a speed dating style set up where the companies got a chance to meet loads of mentors from the Ignite network — as a much needed challenge that pushed her business to new heights.
