So what are we looking for?

The Propel Pre-Accelerator is looking for start-ups who are developing an innovative new technology or product, or using existing technology to disrupt an industry.

Your application is the beginning of the conversation…

We understand you might not know all the answers, especially if you are at idea stage. We don’t mind this! We just want to know what you’re thinking and why, and why you are the person/team to take this concept forward.

If you’re unsure whether to apply, it’s really important that you still throw in an application! What’s the worst that could happen?

If we need to ask further questions, we will get in touch with you, plus — if Propel doesn’t turn out to be the right thing for you this year — it’s likely we will be able to signpost you in the right direction to help you take the next steps.

So here’s the bit you’re looking for, tune in…

Q1: Tell us about the problem you’re solving, and how you’re solving it. Who are your customers? How do you make money (or how do you think you will)?

What’s the problem you’re trying to solve and who is this a problem for? What’s the current solution out there? And why is this problem painful for you? This is not about telling your life story — it’s about being short and to the point while clearly communicating what the problem is.

Q2: Are you already trading (if so, for how long?), are you still in development, or is this still just an idea? If you’ve already got customers/users, how many do you have?

Again, we realise a lot of people applying will be at a very early stage when answering this question — and not to worry — you are the sort of people we are looking for! Though, if you have an early prototype or have started talking to customers, this is where you can tell us what you have achieved so far. This helps us to think about the potential traction your idea has in the market you are solving the problem in.

Q3: Tell us about you and your team — who’s working on this and what is their background/experience?

We believe great founders build great companies so tell us about yourself and the experience you have relevant to the problem/market your working with? Are you a solo founder or do you have a team/advisors, if so, how do you know them and what do they bring to the table?
